Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So I got Doom for christmas and here are my thoughts.

Agree with everything in the OP. I enjoyed the fast-paced action oriented gameplay a lot, along with the kick ass soundtrack, the awesome stages and settings and even read all the lore. At times the exploration and secret hunting felt a little bit like Metroid Prime to me (mostly due to the double jump mechanic, I guess).

I also had both of the bugs OP mentioned, both were fucking annoying! Bethesda needs to iron them out!

Overall it's a great game and I can safely recommend it to all Switch owners who enjoy fast action games.

OK so stupid me for not doing this earlier.

I went to video settings and turned off Motion Blur and chromatic aberration and lo and behold the game becomes much less blurry when playing.

So this is the tip of the day.

On the topic of chromatic aberration. This is a really stupid effect that a lot of games nowdays put in for no reason.
Why do you want an unwanted effect from a camera lens in your game? This is like lens flare that plagued a lot of games in the late 90-ies.
In an FPS you are looking through the eyes of someone else, and my eyes shure as hell does not have nither of chromatic aberration nor lens flare.

Yeah chromatic aberration is fucking stupid and I too turned it off as soon as I started.

I actually prefer the motion blur left on though, as its a high quality solution and helps smooth over dips in the framerate.

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023.

Guys you are almost making me want to get this....

Sadly I got L.A. Noire and I want to finish it first. but between Doom and Skyrim?

Switch!!!

Hot damn, if you are buying doom on switch then you can't complain. It's a game made for PC with the limitations of the two consoles at the time which have greater performance than switch, both, Go back to your bathroom and play something else, play this on at least an x1 or ps4 before you critique the game in general.

WOOOOOSH!

Different genres, different styles (but both buggy loool).

It depends on what you expect from the games. While one is a heavy rpg, the other is pure action. After having played Doom twice now and currently diving into Skyrim I can only say that both have ups and downs.

Doom; actually a new-ish current gen game rather than a game from 2011 that hasn't aged particularly well.

Wait. It doesn't have gyro aiming at all?

After all that hubbub about motion controls in Skyrim?

That's kind of a deal-breaker for me.
