For those wondering who oliist is, he was the top DB contributor, there‘s even a badge with his profile pic:

Millionaire (badge for 1 million gamrPoints): http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/badge.php?id=68

No one got this badge yet, ironically not even oliist himself, he "just" made it to 918.000 gamrPoints:
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/members.php?name=Oliist

What TalonMan showed above means that every member soon will be able to contribute to the DB like back in the day. That‘s great and I especially appreciate that the names of contributors will re-appear under "Latest Update" (like e.g. nordlead in TalonMan‘s example pic above).

I loved this feature and was the third member to add at least 100 game banners: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/badge.php?id=13

That‘s nothing compared to the contributions of other members though. Here are the top DB contributors:

At least 1000...

This is NOWHERE near complete - there will be a lot of changes to the .css and coloring scheme before anything goes live, but I just want to give an example of the level of detail that's missing and what everybody in the community will hopefully be able to contribute:

Here's how Wii Sports looks - the level of detail is SPOT-ON!! Boxart (you can't tell from the screenshot, but there is the allowance for front, back and multiple regions of boxarts), banner, game information (game ratings, alternate names like Japanese writing, critic review scores, developer, publisher, genre, screenshots, on and on and on!!!!). This is how MOST PS3, Wii, and X360 (and even some older and vintage consoles) games look in the system:

And here we have GTA:V on the XOne - it has almost NONE of that detail! No boxart, no banners, and barely even any game information, and that's because the majority of that information simply isn't here. It may exist over at Gamewise, but it definitely doesn't live here on this website:

You'll note there are tools available in that column, and so long as you're logged in, any regular user of the site will be able to add these things to our game pages and begin fleshing things out. BUT, none of those submissions will actually post to the game page until they have been approved by a DBAdmin - and that is the key role of the DBAdmin (they are a check on the community to make sure people aren't submitting garbage).

Most DBAdmins are actively submitting this information themselves, which is how the role originally came to be in the first place! Guys like Oliist were sending across so many updates, it made more sense to just give them the DBAdmin role and have them simply accept all of their updates in one go - rather than have somebody else parse through everything he was submitting (since he was a trusted user sending LOADS of information!!).

If you feel like you'll be contributing a great deal of (good!!!) information for the game database and want to ensure the stuff that's getting added to our database, doesn't get overwritten by garbage submissions from other users - the DBAdmin role is what you want! If you feel you're most likely only going to submit a few things here and there, then this role is likely not necessary for you - you can still submit is much (or as little) information as you want, but you'll just have to wait until a DBAdmin has had a chance to review and accept or deny your submission...

Good lord, this is so much better. Its basically like the difference between night and day.

Maybe this is a question better suited for Machina, but would it be possible to show all sales data from a said game since it was released in said game page?In the sense that it shows all weeks since the release, and not just the first 10 weeks and the total.Dont know if its just me, but I like looking back on old games and analyse which holidays it did best, if it had any spikes due to price cuts both for the game or the hardware, or anything like that.I know the data is already there, because the sales are updated weekly, but would it be possible to show that data in a more permanent fashion (and also being way more acessible), instead of having to hunt for it in the overall sales data(where all sales numbers are displayed for all games)?

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Hmm, depending on what the responsibilities are, I'd be interested. I enjoy organizing things for some weird reason (I find it calming?) lol.

Secondly, what is the discord information? I'd like that info.

Wow, I wasn't even aware you could search up badges like that.

Read further up, when I gave the screenshots - I explained fairly well, what the GameDB roll really entails.

The bottom line: If you're going to be casually updating the database from time to time, you probably don't need it. However, if you're going to be obsessively updating the database, then you'll want the role if for no other reason than to get your submissions to post as quickly as possible... :)

Would GameDB Admins have to go back to games like GTAV and edit them to be like Wii Sports or will it strictly have to be adding and reviewing submission's for games that aren't in the database?

This is great! :)
While i don't have enough free time and am not an active enough user to try to be an Admin, I'll probably make a bunch of nice game banners from time to time.

I wouldn't mind signing up. :P

Yea I probably only have time to do it casually, so I guess I'll pass. Thanks for the info.

Sad that this was done while I was out of town for vacation. This is something I'd love to help with.
