Splatoon 2. Had soo much fun on the Wii U. The sequel was even better.

Forza Motorsport 7 just by play time alone it also has the best car roster in the Motorsport series the only thing that I didn't like is that they never added any DLC tracks or achievements. Dragon Quest XI could eventually become my favorite game of 2017 still haven't completely finished it. Other honorable mentions are Yakuza Kiwami 2 (beat it on PS4 and X1) Need For Speed Payback (beat it on X1 close to beating it on PS4) Assassins Creed Origins (about 1/3 done) Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (1/2 done) and Horizon Zero Dawn (barely played it).
This is actually a good thread to bump up, because not everyone plays these games in 2017.
The two standouts from this year for me were Breath of the Wild and Puyo Puyo Tetris (Switch version). I also really enjoyed Mario+Rabbids. There are also a couple of 2017 games that I enjoyed on the Switch, but didn't get a Switch release until later: Cuphead and South Park:Fractured but Whole.
Both Breath of the Wild and Puyo Puyo Tetris made my top 50 games of all time and are still in it. So, that makes 2017 a decent year for my gaming, but not exceptional. However, I realize from a sales perspective 2017 was an exceptional year for games.
curl-6 bet me that PS5 + X|S sales would reach 56m before year end 2023 and he was right.
My Bet With curl-6
My Threads:

Looking back, the only game of this list that eventually stood out to me was... Doom 2016. I haven't played FIFA 18, Odyssey and Splatoon 2 since 2018, and I only touched Mania last week for the first time since 2017. The games that I've played a lot and have enjoyed the most since they released were Doom, indeed, and also Zelda Breath of the Wild. My perception of the latter has heavily changed since it launched 4 years ago.
My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.
I guess I can actually say something to this now as well. Back in 2017 I hadn't actually played any games from 2017, so I couldn't have given an answer even if I'd wanted to. I'll just give my top 5 for the year, as they are also in my top 50 games of all time. There are still a bunch of games from the year I need to get around to playing at some point, most notably Mario Odyssey.
1. Horizon Zero Dawn
2. Nier: Automata
3. Hollow Knight
4. Yakuza 0
5. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
2017 was easily my favorite year in gaming. Here are the games that I have beaten:
1: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
2: Super Mario Odyssey
3: Sonic Mania
4: Sonic Forces (definitely not as good as the other 3 games but I still liked it)
Here are games that I have not beaten but have enjoyed what I have played:
1: Doki Doki Literature Club
2: Cuphead
3: A Hat in Time
4: Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
I tried Persona 5 and Arms and they didn't really do anything for me, I have Resident Evil 7 and Splatoon 2 and haven't really played them yet, and that's about all that I played in 2017. I loved this year for the games listed and the games that ported other platforms this year, like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Lego City Undercover, and Rocket League coming to the Switch, all of which I really enjoy. Please let me know what you think.
