Since I'm done with writing the rest of the games, may as well post another.

#3 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild / Switch

Ok so this game, with over 200 hours put into it, I can safely say that in my opinion, this is best Zelda game ever made, finally dethroning my childhood favorite Wind Waker, which me being a nostalfag, is quite the achievement. It’s truly the first time a huge open world adventure never once bored me, not while grinding for materials, finding koroks, searching weapons, doing sidequests, the main story, the beautifully crafted shrines and dungeons, the mini bosses and bosses, is quite a remarkable game. And about that open world, what a magnificence sense of scale and wonder it presents, with something in every corner for you to discover. As a Zelda game, it features my absolute favorite cast of characters (seriously the champions are so precious just like their descendants, freaking best characterization of Zelda since Wind Waker, Link could have been better, not as expressive as other titles) brought to life by the perfect Latin American Spanish dub.  And it feels like this game is just scratching the surface of what the new mechanics from the game are capable of.

Also is quite funny that the “worst Zelda soundtrack” has some of my favorite tunes in the series and in gaming.

And that this “non Zelda game cause mah dungeon items and etc.” has the two greatest dungeons in the series, one being the masterfully crafted Hyrule Castle and the other being the DLC dungeon (Bonus point for the Champion’s Ballad that for me is a perfect DLC, because it expands on the things I love the most about this game, also gave me one of my favorite Zelda fights). Even without the expansion tho, this is rightfully my #3 game.

game #5

Hint 1: One of the most successful launch-titles ever for a new console.

Could only be a handful of things, I'll again go with Breath of the Wild.

Yes, it is Zelda Breath of the Wild, as S.Peelman guessed correctly.

I said for Okami it is the best Zelda-game. Breath of the Wild though is one of the best games ever, without being really a Zelda game. At least it feels like that for me.

I love the openness of the game. If I see it, I can go there. I love the variety of things you can do. I love exploring. I love that the enemies fight differently if they have different weapons. I love that they sit around the campfire, talk and dance and pick their nose if they don't fight me.

The land also feels like a war is gone for a long time, as the story says. You find ruins everywhere. The only permanent settlements are in defensive postions. But civilization is creeping back in form of the stables.

This game feels just great. It is tremendous fun to go through the land and find things wherever I go. Ganon? Who? I don't care.

10 years greatest game event!

bets: [peak year] [+], [1], [2], [3], [4]

I have a feeling Breath of the Wild is going to end up pretty high, if not win, the overal result. That's pretty mindblowing for such a new game.

#5
Valkyria Chronicles
Previous Year: #5

Valkyria Chronicles was the game that originally convinced me that buying the PS3 was worth it. No other game before it had really been good enough to justify the money I had spent on the system, but this one did it by itself. I originally fell in love with the game's visual style as I saw it in reviews, but once I bought VC it was the complex and deep gameplay, the wonderful characters, and the interesting story that took inspiration from many real world events and countries that made this game such an amazing experience for me. A perfect sign of this was a certain scene in the game that to this day remains the only time I've had to put down a game and take a break from it because of how much it affected me on an emotional level. It was that moment when I knew I was playing something special, and that holds true to this day.

Hint for #4:

"With the strength of lords they challenged the dragons."

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games?

Correct.

More hints.

#3 “Since man first walked upright, he has looked to the stars and wondered, ‘Are we alone in this cold corner of space? If something is out there, would it be friend…or foe?’ What would this Earth man think if he could see a desperate space ship, fleeing at a speed faster than imagination? What would he think if he saw the impact of powerfully potent neutronic missiles upon its fragile frame? What would he make of the strange pod that ejected from the ruined remains, just in time to avoid its mysterious inhabitant’s destruction? And would he gape in wonder at the dozen or so strange canisters that burst from its hold and fell towards the atmosphere of our guileless globe? What emotion would pass through his mind as he observed these selfsame containers as they passed through our atmosphere and fell upon the surface of an unsuspecting metropolis? So many questions and so few answers…until now dear viewers…until now….”

Hint 2: This is a real time tactical RPG.
Hint 3: This PC game pays homage to silver age comic books, especially those created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
Hint 4: The developer of this game is actually more well known for a game about an underwater city dedicated to Objectivist philosophy.
Hint 5: In this game you control up to 4 super heroes on each mission, and you can usually pick which 4 you want to take from a much larger roster.  The super heroes were created by the game developers and do not come from the comic books.
Hint 6: In this PC game you control a Force of super heroes, fighting to protect the Freedoms of the people of Earth from Lord Dominion and his forces.
Hint 7: Director Ken Levine said that one big reason he made this game was that no one had made a good super hero game yet.  Of course City of Heroes and Spiderman 2 would both be released 2 years later.

#1  My list so far is dominated by arcade action games and fantasy RPGs.  This is an NES game.
Hint 2:  This NES game set the gold standard.
Hint 3:  The cartridge to this game is so distinct that you can recognize it without even seeing the label.  You might only confuse it with its sequel.

Finally, my three favorite games of all time!

#3 Bring the key to the door.

#2 The only mainline game from one of my favorite franchisises that isn't on my list yet.

#1 Yuga.
