Valkyria Chronicles was the game that originally convinced me that buying the PS3 was worth it. No other game before it had really been good enough to justify the money I had spent on the system, but this one did it by itself. I originally fell in love with the game's visual style as I saw it in reviews, but once I bought VC it was the complex and deep gameplay, the wonderful characters, and the interesting story that took inspiration from many real world events and countries that made this game such an amazing experience for me. A perfect sign of this was a certain scene in the game that to this day remains the only time I've had to put down a game and take a break from it because of how much it affected me on an emotional level. It was that moment when I knew I was playing something special, and that holds true to this day.
