Exactly, Mr Pugsly is trying to say Nintendo is an outlier. This gen that is starting to become an incorrect assumption. Its EA who is the outlier on the Nintendo platform. Almost every third party will have an exclusive for the switch. After Squares success on the DS you know they are bringing the traditional JRPG's to the switch. Ubisoft has already found success. Activision and EA are all thats left because Namco is in. |
You have to understand some people still can't wrap their head around Switch they're still trying to apply the usual views to it when like the Wii it follows a far different road than what they know. This is highlighted when you see many of the predictions as many didn't even factor in the portable market.
In the portable market Nintendo is not the outlier and some are going to take a while to realise it.
EA is not committed to consumers period. The most downvoted post on reddit just recently went to EA's dumbfuck reply about Luke and Vader being locked.
Fuck this company, seriously.
Of course they don't understand the Switch market. They're looking for ways to infest their microtransactions in Switch games first. Then they will understand it.

That's exactly what EA did with the Wii U. It released Mass Effect 3 as a $60 for a port of a game about a year old, on top of releasing the entire trilogy + free DLC all in one $60 package on other consoles and PC within the same week of ME3 for Wii U. It released the previous year's version of Madden with nothing more than a roster update. The only EA game for the Wii U that was an honest effort was Need For Speed: Most Wanted. |
To be fair, even though EA did build the WiiU Madden with the previous version's engine, Madden 13 on Wii U was the superior version in my opinion because of the ability to draw your own hot routes and blitzes on the Gamepad. I really wish enough people had given that game a chance for it to catch on and get another installment. It completely tainted me from being able to play Madden on other systems. I used to buy Madden annually, but I haven't bought one since Madden 13. This is the most consecutive years I've spent playing the same football game since Tecmo Super Bowl on NES.

Actually Switch is a lot like Wii and 3DS. It will thrive where other platforms dont but it will likely do poorly where other platforms thrive.

It goes down its own path like Wii that's the only thing that is the same, it's not really like the 3DS at all as well.
Switch is already thriving where other platforms thrive for a start not fully matching another platform doesn't mean doing poorly.

Wii and 3DS both thrived with audiences looking for something different than Sony or MS are offering. I think Switch will much of the same.
Although, Switch will appeal to a bigger core audience than Wii and 3DS simply because it can easily handle notable games of the 7th gen and maybe random risks like Doom. But it won't get the core appeal of Xbox or PlayStation given Switch won't get the same support and the specs are so low.

EA is playing it safe. They will make games for the Switch after they see its base grow. They will realize that they can make money producing games for the Switch. But by holding back now they hurt their current relationship with Nintendo fans. But this can be fixed by making good games in the future for the Switch.
