In Sweden most retailers with availible stock are currently making own bundles. Mediamarkt (one of the biggest) only has bundles, another of the biggest, Elgiganten, ran out of stock with a campain earlier this week (~350$) for a console. But still has the Splatoon 2 bundle at select stores. It says on their page that they will get a re-stock October 7th.

Yeah here in sweden it was only hard to find the first month or two. Since then it has been more or less constantly.

Quick search at prisjakt.se shows it in stock in most places.

What about this?

https://www.gamestop.se/Nintendo%20Switch/Games/73234/nintendo-switch-red-blue-console

11.4% off RRP.

Come on, they have lowered the price to the same price as Elgiganten has sold the console for from day 1.

It's more that GameStops crap strategy of overpricing the console has failed and they are forced to lower it to the same price as all the other stores.

Well, that's summer for you.

What about it? Gamestop plays their own game. Overpriced from the start, and tagging along as they go. RRP is nothing to go by. Gamestop is all things considered a pretty small retailer, they cant compete with the prices of the bigger retailers.

Pretty much, at least the neon version. The grey one is MIA at many places.

I'm not going to defend all the prices gamestop has, but gamestop does not have a chance to match the prices of elgiganten, mediamarkt, power. It's not Northamerica where they are a big act in videogame sales. They're simply a part of the industry.

The RRP is set by Nintendo. So, this just says that stores are selling the Switch at a lower price that the one recommended by Nintendo.

While Gamestop may be on overall smaller retailer than the general ones, it is still the biggest gaming retailer in the world. It has around 50 stores in Sweden compared to Media Markt's 27. So, it can't be not that small when it comes to games.

And RRP is quite a lot to go by - consoles don't sell at lower than the price recommended by the manufacturer when there is a huge demand for it. Plus , the standalone ones are available on Media Markt's website, along with a lot of bundles.

Isn’t the RRP set by Bergsala and not Nintendo? (what I’m meaning is that in this instance Nintendo might be free of guilt)

In Poland, Switch is available in pretty much every major retailler.

They should send some of those to you guys in US because it's clearly not a thing here.
That's why it's surprising to see Switch beating the PS4 in the ''rest of the world'' category.

Nintendo doesnt set the RRP in Sweden. Bergsala does.

Gamestop worldwide, is nothing what it is in Sweden. Gamestop is the biggest focused on games only, but mainly because it's the only one nationwide.

Meda Markt is a whole other beast here, it's like saying that the amount of "ICA Nära" surpasses the amount of "ICA Maxi" but they're a small contributor in the end. The demand is not like in Japan or North America, but it's solid.

This is correct.

I'm pretty sure the Switch is massively undertracked here in Europe. I mean, more supply is available now, so surely the numbers should go up? Also, going by last weeks' numbers ( 5 Aug.) approximately 20k were sold just in U.K. France and Germany, so the whole of the rest of the continent only adds up to 15k? That's a lot of countries to only sell 15k in! Also, if you apply the same equation to PS4, it goes from roughly 25k in the 3 main countries to around 65k all told, so 40k in the rest of Europe. I don't buy it!

Nah, europe was and is always a difficult terrain for Nintendo. Back in the day an Atari-lawsuit made Nintendos entry to europe difficult and Sega profited of that. Later Playstation took over. So Nintendos franchises are not so popular than in America for instance.

Also, it is harder to build up representation in all the smaller countries in europe. For Sony it is easier, as the not only sell gaming machines and games, but general electronics. So a headquarter in a smaller european country, which establishes connection and deals with lcoal retail, is much easier to build. I think in europe Switch reached faster the point that supply met demand.

I think though, Nintendo could do this gen some marketing and use the relative success of Switch to get a better foothold in europe.
