Well, if you stood for hours in line to get one Switch and Splatoon, you don't care much for other games. These might be picked up later after a month-long-session of Splatoon or so.

This is all different if the hardware is boosted by new model, price cut or holidays. Then people will get also games from the existing library. We might look if DQ release not only boosts hardware but software besides DQ.

Yeah people blew their splatoon 2 predictions out of proportion. still great numbers.

I am so happy. It's now the only console beating it's predecessor in Japan. Great achievement and the best sales for it are still yet to come.

Splatoon has outsold Zelda and Mario Kart in it's first week, why is it so popular in Japan?

As said, people were expecting a 80% attach rate on first week, several months after launch. That's just not something that happens.

It's nice to see the homeconsole market in Japan back to a healthy state, with Switch and PS4 - it's looking to be the be the best year since the height of the Wii craze, back in 2007-2008.

Actually it already beaten PS4s and Vitas hole 1st year and next week will beat Wii U hole 1st year, and we are not even on half of Switch 1st year, and Switch is still very supply constrained.

Looks like some new buyers bought MK8D but ignored Zelda and Arms. It's clear that those buyers only wanted multiplayer games, and as for Arms, it got overshadowed as the 2nd multiplayer game purchase by MK8D. Most people won't buy 3 games immediately with a console.
