Well I've assumed that the switch 2 upgrades will install just like a game update, so if you already have a cartridge of BOTW for example you'll just download and install a patch rather than having to download the entire game. But I don't know for sure. It would be annoying if it does require a full download and install to the internal storage.

Switch 2 is completely different hardware and requires it's games to run on faster storage. I assumed the 'upgrade pack' was literally just a Switch 2 port running natively from internal storage.

It's posible but as all the "Switch 2 Editions" are Switch 1 games with upgrades it could be similar to the "gen9 aware" titles on Xbox Series. Those titles like Forza Horizon 4 are upgraded to 4k60 etc, but can be run off a USB HDD still unlike actual Series X games, so they don't require faster storage.

BOTW does advertise better loading speeds but the CPU and extra ram could accomplish that for those that don't have it fully installed to the internal with the digital copy...

An updated comparison has been uploaded this time with the PS4pro included, CB2077 was put together on Switch 2 in seven weeks but despite this it outperforms the PS4pro version. I think point of comparison in future would need to be with Series S and PS5 as that seems to be Switch 2's performance range which is crazy considering the portable form factor.

GC games are enhanced it seems.

Yeah they said enhanced resolution in the direct, looks like at least a 3x render scale, which would be 1920x1440 resolution for 4:3 games.

I hope Nintendo will eventually add wide-screen support and options to these titles but that's probably not going to happen.

Some of them already have some widescreen support (F-Zero). That was a niche feature during that era. Not sure how hard it would be to patch for other games though.

Oh yeah, the f-zero in that video is wide-screen, didn't even notice on my phone because black bars still lol. When it was showed in the switch 2 direct it was 4:3 like the other titles. Though the Zelda video is showing both 4:3 and wide-screen on both the GC and Switch 2 when it didn't support wide-screen on GC? Are we sure this guy is using Switch 2 footage and isn't just making fake comparison videos with dolphin? Lol.

Dolphin can widescreen hack any game, some games work very well, others have graphical issues mainly due to culling not taking into account the wider view, so object's at the edge of your view despawn. But when I've emulated GameCube I generally always use it.

Or how about taking the paper from the box, flipping it and putting it back in.

There's a reverse cover ?

Not necessarily a reverse cover (which would have the name of the game on the spine), but I have hard time recalling the last Nintendo game that didn't have an artwork inside.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV will outsell Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was wrong.

It's disappointing but I can live with it. What I'm confused by now though is somewhere on the support page did say Switch 2 versions wouldn't work on the original Switch. Or maybe I read it wrong.

That would actually be trash if they just sold the Switch 1 version requiring a full Switch 2 download and install, yet still didn't let you play it on current Switch. I didn't even want this to begin with, but if they're not putting it on Switch 2 cart with the full game there's no real excuse.

The wording is ambiguous on both the packaging and on Nintendo's website. So far we've only had one support team member say something about this and that person may very well be wrong. Usually "internet connection required" is put on the front of the box when a download is necessary to enjoy what's advertised on the front of the box, but we don't see this here.

I am leaning towards both the game and the upgrade pack being on the game card. What can definitely be ruled out is the interpretation in your second paragraph, because they absolutely will not put the Switch 1 version on the card and then have you download the Switch 2 Edition in full regardless.

The fact we'll need 2 months before we can get the actual truth of this matter is painful.

Unless Nintendo actually does showcase what's gonna be inside these boxes or actually spell it out clearly.

I can afford it but I dont want to fork out another $200 just on principle.

Damn man, of course the moment when I wanted to get a system day 1, this shit happens.

$500 was a fine price tag - I've bought my PS5 two years ago for that price and a Series X for about $400 when it went down in price two years ago temporarily.
