RIP Claude Guillemot. 😢

The Adventures of Elliot adventures did pretty decent in the UK debuting at No.6 with a platform balance at retail looking like:
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2026/06/uk-charts-the-adventures-of-elliot-makes-an-impressive-debut-but-cant-trouble-the-podium

"Switch 2 57%,
PS5 40%
Xbox Series 3%"

These smaller scale RPGs show to perform well on Switch. Where technical prowess no longer plays a role in defining the experience I think people prefer to grab the hybrid version and have that flexibility. Inversely I expect AAA RPGs to continue to perform more modestly on Switch 2 even as its userbase climbs, I suspect there is decent cross ownership between PS5/Switch particularly in UK & US.

I still say Microsoft should just sell Rare to Nintendo cheap, considering how poorly Microsoft handled Rare.

Why would Microsoft want to do that? Sea of Thieves is still a very profitable game for them.

They unceremoniously axed The Everwild, and Banjo-Kazooie in Smash proved that Rare IPs are treated better on Nintendo platforms.

Oomphf this summer has been a busy one! I’m back in home with my parents through the Fourth of July, so I won’t have done any gaming between Mina (early-June) and mid-July. And I had already been busy during May with my Ireland ventures.

Well anyways: Super pumped for Star Fox to arrive this week!! It’s a short game, so maybe I can squeeze it in to my time with family. I know my two brothers were wanting to play it so that’ll be fun. :)

MS haven't even tried with Banjo annoyingly enough, but even just a remake ala Crash/Spyro trilogy would do great. None of this requires rare to be sold though and the new Spyro was greenlit under their (microsofts) ownership so I think it's just a matter of time, especially with a multiplatform release blowing the sales wide open across Nintendo/Playstation.

Edit: It's worth noting Rare actively did not want to work on more straight forward platforming which is why Banjo Nuts & Bolts turned out so removed from the core DNA of the franchise. That right there is a perfect example of how not to do a sequel. If you want to do something so different, simply make a new IP or Spinoff. I imagine anything new from Banjo will come from a separate team or co-development vs Rare dedicating themselves to it.
