Only in the US does the MM-DD-YYYY format really exist, with only a few exceptions. A large percentage of the world population uses DD-MM-YYYY where few other locations will use YYYY-MM-DD.

Glad to know, if and when we get to 9999, that there is an agreement in place from the world melting down due to Y10k.
