Of course I win. And if more people start complaining that nothing is happening with consoles in regard to consumer choice, everyone will win.

You're putting the blame on console makers. Hence, your argument never made sense because developers can choose.

Not all the blame. But since it is apparent that console developers won't do it unless they're forced, console makers drawing a line would be a great first step.

People always go asking for performance over resolution. At least devs are sort of strarting to pick up on it. Imagine if they tried to do full 4K on the XBO X and PS4Pro.... *shudders*

Also, dynamic resolution isn't something exclusive to the switch. Many games this gen has had a dynamic resolution.

I liken it a bit to 7th gen - PS3 & 360 could output 1080p, but most games could barely keep 30fps at 720p. Now PS4P & XB1X can output 4k, but most games can at best run a stable 30fps with checkerboarding. At least this gen we have mostly stable frames and better upscaling.

The Original Xbox could do high-definition as well. Most games were 480P with a few that were HD.

4k is overrated.
1080p is fine enough, but you cannot have it wherever and whenever you want yet.

It's like back in the days with Nintendo vs Sega.

"I CAN DO BLAST PROCESSING!"

Jokes on Sega for making fun of Mario Kart.

Consoles are weak but everyone wants the competitive advantage. Also, it's up to the devs what they want to do with the extra processing power, so it's hard to control what happens anyway.

They arent being forced.

Some games allow changing of resolution, frame cap, vsync, etc.

Well even 720p is acceptable to me. I play PC games on a 1366x768 screen.

But if you have a 4K TV, you want 4K content.

However, the 4K consoles do better graphics and performance on 1080p screens. Its not just resolution. Some X1X content will be designed or have settings to work better at 1080p.
