You people make me laugh. Show the receipts.

It was at 10m sold through by december the 10th.... its not unreasonable to assume it ll do another 2-3m in december before all is said and done.

It "could" end the year at 13m.

Just as the PS4 "could" end it at ~74m (it was at 70,6m by dec 3rd).

Love how you're just enabling stating numbers without receipts when the post I replied to stated it as a fact rather than a guess.

I think it could go either way.  But Ill go with the PS4.

Anyway, it is gonna be really close.

Well well well, will you look at that...  it looks like I underestimated the PS4..   Again..  I really gotta stop doing that.

You came back :) and didnt even have to eat any crow.

PS4 is doing well in 2017, likely a 20m+ year, its understandable if some would think earlier on in the year that in its 4th year it would be down abit.

this is false, even with a new system launch, and with out counting November where switch got out sold 2:1, it's still behind ps4.

LOL about benji. if his numbers come true, this month, then ill start believing in him, last month he was all over the place, and honestly covered all his angles. it was obvious as fuck a 199$ ps4 and 189$ xbone with a new hyped system launch were gonna clear a million. you don't then need numbers to know this, lol. then he throws in i wouldn't surprise me if switch won, how this info valuable?

You are still talking after what's happen on ERA lol?

No offense but is usefull talk with you.

people were treating benji like some kind of god, when is info was basically  ps4 and xb1 were gonna do over a million, switch being a maybe, but having a realisitc chance to win, but didn't expect it too, i said his info was  questionable, because he gave switch a real chance of winning, when it was out sold by near a million. his info was useless. december he what says is true, ok then, i can start saying if info is useful, last month naw.

Switch is cannibalizing PS4 sales, right?? And still supply constrained everywhere?

Now Been serious, people are forgetting that Switch had an opening and a holiday separate? The PS4 or Xbox one had the same opening/holiday week nearly at the same time.

stock, starting in November, was plenty in America and Europe. And all right in November for Japan.

it had probably the best Zelda, A mario Kart Game, Splatoon 2, new Ip like ARMS, Mario + Rabbids, The freakin Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade 2 and many other games and still got destroyed in November?

In 2018 PS4 will have a very good lineup and the imminent permanent price drop of $199 if things are getting slow.

Hell I can even imagine a $149 PS4 next holiday, So the race will be very tough.

Well I guess now's a good as time for crow as any with the Switch finishing with roughly 12.5-13.5m and the PS4 with 20-21m, so here it all is in one convenient post.

Tryklon - "PS4 has absolutely no chance whatsoever of winning 2017 in sales."

Abronn627 - "Switch. PS4 will be in it's 4th holiday this year and software release won't matter much at this point."

Slade6Alpha - "If Switch was fully stocked, no contest Switch. PS4 gets the handout victory. " (selling over 20m is a handout!)

Slarvax - "I think it's gonna be closer than most are saying, but PS4 should win. I give them a 5 million difference at most. " (Switch will finish with around 12.5-13.5m, PS4 will finish with around 20-21m. A difference of 6.5-8.5m)

VideoGameAccountant - "Nintendo potentially selling 15-17 million this year (based on sales of the Wii and DS) and Sony not making their 18 million goal, I'd go with Switch. " (Wrong on both counts VideoGameAccountant)

Rolstoppable - "the sell-through numbers will likely fall into the ranges of 15-18m for the PS4 and 10-14m for Switch." (Not much to say, the predicted ranges are incredibly wide, PS4 sales still outperformed his expectations.)

AnmolRed - "Switch , especially if they announce Pokemon. " (I guess they did announce pokemon)

HyrulianScrolls - "Gonna say Switch does because I see the demand for it being massive this holiday"

Jumpin - "Switch, it's hot, the PS4 has peaked and is winding down. " (The peak year before was 17.6m, this year it's going to be 20-21m definitely not winding down.)

Slab_of_bacon - "It's a launch year for the Switch with some great titles. It will be close but it's hard for me to imagine the Playstation 4 keeping up with that"

Kristof81 - "I'm guessing Switch, but it's going to be close..."

VideoGameAccountant - "why should we think that Sony won't decline. The PS4 is in its fourth year, so we should expect some decline. Nintendo is real competition. With this in mind, why should we expect that Sony can keep its earlier sales volume up?" (Second post by him, he doesn't really live up to his name. PS4 sales will have increased roughly 16.5%, not close to decline.)

irstupid - "There is the new hot item, the Switch. Then there is the new Scorpio, Both should steal a console or two from the PS4 this holiday season. So expecting same sales from PS4 this year as last year is being dillusional." (Sales went up around 16.5% if Flat was delusional I don't know what you'd have said about that.)

AnthonyW86 - "I think Switch"

I love threads like this. People make so many crazy predictions.

Switch sales in Japan are at 3.3 million as for 24 December 2017, and account for 25% of WW sales, which mean Switch is at ~13.2 million worldwide.

With another week, is pretty fair to assume that 13.5 million will be the minimum of Switch sales in 2017, not the maximum. I actually think 13.6/13.7 million will be the final number, with worldwide shipments at around 14.5 million.

Well VGC's figures are now going to be 13m tops, but we can compare them to official and media create to check how their tracking is in Japan/USA.

Japan - 3.2m (December 24th. Media Create)

USA - "Over 4.8m" (First 10 months, January 3rd-ish?, Nintendo)

Now for VGC.

Japan - 3.19m (December 23rd) seems spot on with Media Create

USA - 4.7m (December 23rd), With another week, or slightly over a week, to go it actually looks like VGC is overtracking USA a little bit.

So there doesn't seem to be a reason to believe VGC is undertracking the Switch by any substantial degree, so now the Switch should end around 12.4-12.8m

So no 13.5m wasn't the minimum, my range was seemingly too high. I couldn't find the 25% figure you used, but I think the problem was taking that source too literally, a deviation of a single % would be a massive difference.
