Forums - Sales Discussion - Switch vs Ps4 - Who will win 2017 WW

Keep in mind Switch launched with all its most killer apps except for metroid so it is about to fall very badly in sales where 2018 is concerned and that is a fact! PS4 will sell another 23mil this year due to some of its near killer apps and some games we dont even know of yet if ff7 remake comes its a definite eye opener.

Smash Bros, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, 2D Mario, and Fire Emblem have not released yet. Metroid is pretty small compared to these franchises.

Also having an early built library keeps momentum going. Platform sales aren't just a matter of releasing system sellers but a matter of releasing a consistent stream of games which together can convince somebody to buy the platform.

Its very possible looking at it carefully (2018 sales)

Everything is possible, but I don't think it's likely...

And what about your prediction that PS4 would do less than half of Switch sales?

I love to see that post of mine

Edit: when you find that post if it exist ill tell you part 2 what to do lmao

Im going to say Switch will win, i just dont see ps4 doing as much as switch, maybe about half as good if they are lucky

Will win 2017 (as in the thread says)?

Because right now (in 2017) (upto november) its 10m Switch's to 17.2m PS4's.

Switch is gonna need a crazy good december to win 2017 sales wise.

Where is the 17.2m figure coming from by the way?

Didn't took long to find it.

So you are just gonna ignore that Switch has officially outsold the Wii U?

I'd prefer a source that I don't have to google translate.

"The Switch today has beaten Wii U sales levels throughout its entire career (13.56 million units between 2012 and 2017)."

But we can assume this number is shipped not sold to consumers, which sounds about right.

So again 12.4m-12.8m is now the range for Switch sell-through by the end of 2017. Not "minimum of 13.5m"

So again, what do you expect for shipments numbers?

I think you're massively overestimating the effect those additional countries had. PS4 in just its top 10 countries would probably still have beat the Switch with its full world wide sales...

If the Switch had released in extra places like Guatemala or Tahiti it wouldn't have even been close to overcoming that gap

The excuses we make to show PS4 as worse and Switch as the god sent machine =p

3DS best year in Japan is 5.6 million.
PS4 best year in the US is 5.7 million.

In 2017, PS4 sold around 5.4 million in the US.

Yes, Switch in Japan > PS4 in USA is very likely for 2018.

13.5-14m shipped by end of 2017. Though it could be a little higher then that.

those games will not be coming anytime soon and only smash bros would actually move units those others u mentioned are simply games people would want to buy but not a system pusher

You think Pokemon, a series that sells consistently in the tens of millions wouldn't move units? Animal Crossing (on handhelds) a series that also has consistently sold in the tens of millions wouldn't move units? Both series have sales equal to better than the top Smash Bros games.

There is a good chance that Fire Emblem, a Mario Maker Switch Version, a Smash Bros port (or new game), and/or Animal Crossing release this year. If any three of these releases, that's going to have a similar effect to Botw/SMO/Splatoon 2.

And again, there is a cumulative effect to releasing games. People might not think a console is worth it for Zelda and Mario alone, but if other games release the incentive to purchase the console increases with every extra title.
