And evidence that is it fixed is purely anecdotal. MS has remained silent.

I'm thinking that it's fixed cause we don't hear about it anymore.
In fact, lately I've been hearing more problems with PS3 and Wii.

Were? In your dreams?

On topic:

The failure rate droppped, therefore its alot more reliable than it used to be, but still be cautious.

i'm pretty sure they reduced it so i guess that kinda counts. All consoles are prone to problems to it can never be 100%

But at the same time, there is a distinct lack of anecdotal evidence (or any evidence for that matter), that they continue to fail at the same prodigious rates. They haven't been in production that long, so they could just be ticking time bombs like the last models, and will soon begin to fail en masse, or they won't fail at all. Time will tell.  I'd be cautious, but still pick one up nonetheless. The 360 still has the best library, and that's what it's all about.

I bought my 360 in February 2006.... I'm still waiting to get a RRoD lol and I leave it on several weeks in a row sometime..... so I guess I should sen it back to MS and they should what's different in mine to build the new ones lol... I still have a pb with the DVD drive and I want a RRoD so I can have it fixed before my three years warranty expires

My 360 was RRoD a few days ago. My brother is sending it to having it fixed

If it is fixed then there's no worry at all.

If it isn't fixed you still have a three year warranty so who really cares?
Having to send it in once a month can be annoying.

Is anyone else getting really sick of the RROD threads?

I dont think its fixed but certainly the horror stories seem to have died off somewhat sharply.

I can only talk from my own experience. I bought in the UK in August and the GAME shop assistant kindly made sure I got one with the HDMI port.

The console has been running fine with no issues. I think it has the new drive but more importantly it never seems to get hot at all. I presume I have either been

 1. Very Lucky

2. Lucky so far

3. Sold a console that will not exhibit the problem

Either way I'm very happy with the console at the mo and If it red rings it goes back.

For me as a busy professional with two other consoles Wii/PS2 this is not really an issue just a slight ball ache.

why don't we  just have an RRoD *stickied* thread, so people can just learn up on their own.
