Forums - Nintendo - Nicalis: Switch development is “light years ahead” of Wii U

That's definitely good to hear. Perhaps there will be at least many more indies making it to the switch, and hey, it's got achievements built into it! I'm sure it'll make a certain someone happy ...Oh wait, he doesn't like indie games xD

90s Arcade Racer then please?

What are you talking about? One of Wii U's ONLY strong suits was the eShop. Many indie games have thrived on there. It's only recently that the console is now officially "dead", that many that were in development are (sadly) getting cancelled.

Nintendo should try securing the rights to the first Undertale console port. That would be dope.

We talking about this:

“The Switch is, by far the easiest and most programmer friendly so far,” he said. “I know this sounds like lip service to Nintendo, but it’s actually not. If this wasn’t true, we wouldn’t be able to get these games up and running as quickly as we have, and we wouldn’t be able to have a launch title. It’s light years ahead of what we were doing with Wii U.”

Just because a platform has allot of titles doesn't mean it's easy to program for.

You can pretty much look at the Playstation 2 and 3 as an example of that. Lots of games on Sonys Platforms... But still more difficult than the Xbox and Xbox 360 to port and program games for.

Making it easier for developers does help though. It also reduces development costs and thus development risk.

Nicalis, it doesn't matter if it's easy to develop if you still suck at releasing your games due to "inconsistent policies through distributors".

Better and easier porting is good news, wonder about that 1 year to port article?

Dont wonder about it, this side of the decade such a comment doesnt make sense or mean anything without context. It took, developers shorter time to port to the Wii U

Indie Support should be fine then.

Yeah, I don't think there was ever much doubt regarding that.
