Forums - Gaming - GTA VI predictions

GTA V is a monster. If the 5 years gap repeats, GTA VI probably will be announced this year and will release in 2018. When it will release? Will it ever be released this gen or Rockstar is going to milk GTA V until microtransactions revenue start to plummet and wait til next-gen to release VI? How much you think it can potentially sell? GTA V probably is going to reach the 100 million mark, can GTA VI touch this kind of number?

I think it will be announced early next year and come out Nobember. But i dont think it will reach 100m but it will still be a beast.

It's not gonna be announced for a long time, at least not until they're done with Red Dead Redemption 2 and the DLC that will accompany it.

Even then, GTA5 is also still selling extremely well.

Don't think there's any hurry. 5 is still a best seller, Online seems to be lucrative now, and there's no sense in taking attention away from RDR2. We'll probably get our first glimpse of it next year after Red Dead's campaign is finished. It could release that holiday or it could just as well repeat 5's crossgen, double dip timing with a Q3 2019 release (and 2020 9th gen edition). Who knows if it can reach 5's popularity? My gut says no, but maybe its unprecedented success has primed the market to jump on the next one even faster.

Support for Switch. Feel the pain of getting mugged with HD rumble

Here's my predictions:

  • Q3/Q4 2018 announcement, September 2019 release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One
  • PS5/next-gen Xbox/PC announcement in 2020, PS5 and next-gen Xbox release Holiday 2020, PC early 2021. They did this to maximise sales with GTA V, I don't see why they wont also do it this time. It's an absolute great way to get people to buy the game multiple times. It wouldn't even surprise me if they're also gonna do this with RDR2
  • Main story to be quite short for GTA's standard with about 20 hours (according to HowLongToBeat.com San Andreas is 33.5hours, IV is 28 hours and V is 31 hours)
  • 1 protagonist
  • 3 big cities plus countryside: Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas. Los Santos and its countryside will be an almost 1:1 copy of GTA V, San Fierro and Las Venturas plus their respective countryside will each be about the size of GTA V's map, but with a bigger focus on the city instead of the countryside. Basically this: http://i.imgur.com/rLEXkdZ.jpg
  • Players will be able to carry over everything from GTA V Online to GTA VI Online. Characters, guns, properties, cars, you name it, it all carries over if you'd like to

I think Rockstar should advance the medium again and make GTA6 a full VR exclusive experience. We need big players in the industry to go all in on VR, like they went all in on 3D 20 years ago. GTA can sell VR and totally re-shape the gaming landscape.

GTA6 in VR would be an easy 100 million seller as it would bring not only the massive GTA crowd, but also millions and millions more that have never been part of the traditional gaming market.

I expect to see GTA6 release in 2020 with support for PS4 Pro/PS4 Spec 3/Xbox One Scorpio/Xbox OeSpec 3. It will support 2nd gen PSVR and 2nd gen XBVR units.

The game should be in Vice City and be centered around one main character. The world should be smaller, but much more interactive than any GTA so far.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

3 protagonists again, one of them will be awoman

A lot of focus on the online functionality at the expense of a good single-player.

I want a new city. One never used before. Not a NY-Esque Liberty City, LA-esque Los Santos or Miami-esque Vice City. Even if they want the game options restricted to USA, there are many cities they could use. And it wouldn`t hurt to see an Europe based GTA with Paris and Berlim parodies. The cities don`t have to be connected geographically, they can be different regions and the player using planes to travel through them.
