When MH3 was on the PS3, it was going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Now that it's on the Wii, it won't sell because it won't translate to a console.

You know as well as I do the only time this game was talked about was when it was going to be Wii exclusive. I doubt anytime before then any PS3 owner not from Japan really cared about this game.

The only people that bitched about this were fanboys who, quite honestly, would have never played the game in the first place. It just gave fanboys something to bitch about.

It was supposed to be released on PS3 and Wii it even said on Capcom's website.

Anyone who thought that MH3 sell good on a console needs to take a long hard look at Monster Hunter sales for the PS2, a console that's sold 5x what the Wii is at now.

I've always wanted it on the PS3/360 for 'true' next-gen graphics, and because I don't plan on buying a Wii, so I'd want it on a home console. The sales for the Wii version won't be higher than sales for the PS2, first, because the install base is nowhere near the PS2s, and because Monster Hunter doesn't sell on consoles.

Anyone who believes that monster hunter will sell on the PS3/Wii/XBOX 360 as well as it's sold on the PSP is delusiona, because that would never happen. Now if it was on the DS, that'd be a different thing.

But I'd like to see some posts where people said that this game would sell on the Wii. I'd venture to say that the person who posted it is Crazzyman.

Granted I never played a Monster Hunter game, but it seems very visual with impressive movie scenes, boss fights and everything. I think the PSP is a much better fit than the DS for this sort of game:

Oh, it's perfect for the PSP.  I own Monster Hunter Freedom, and it's sequel.  The controls are a slight bit wonky, but I've adjusted.

I was talking about how it would sell, and it would sell better on DS than on PSP, but the game couldn't really be done on DS, it uses all the PSP buttons... yeah, you could use the touch screen, but then you wouldn't be able to use the face buttons, and I'm not too sure how that'd work.

@ DMeisterJ

I am not sure a DS version would sell any better than for example Assassin's Creed sells for the DS (also a very visual game). I think the problem isn't install base, it's technical. It would probably turn into a completely different experience Moster Hunter fans are used to.

The best selling DS games are all rather simple, party games, semi-3D games like Mario, puzzle games, etc.

Nintendo Dogs, Pokemon, Tetris, BrainAge, etc are all very different less demanding style games. For PSP games like God of War, Need of Speed, Grand Theft Auto, etc style games IMO the DS just isn't powerful enough and the display not of high enough quality to translate the experience well enough. I own a DS and would never consider such demanding home console like games for the system.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

Thats the fun part : you go out with a couple of your friends to a coffe shop . Order something to eat/drink . Sit there for 3-5 hours and play a couple of missions . Console versions can never make this happen , and online is way to impresonal to become as successfull as ad-hoc :)

100% agree with you!  You want to scream, shout and swear with your friends.  Seeing your friend's face expression when he/she got sent back to the tent is just to much fun to pass.  I don't know if the console version of MH will ever push this game to this level.

Anyway, I hope MH will do well on Wii and Capcom will come up a new way to play this game on the consoles.  But I have a feeling that Sony may have gotten MHP3 on PSP to let Capcom get away with their previous agreement of MH3 on PS3.

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

IMO thats allready confirmed , maybe not 3 , but a new MHF game . The success is way to big , and Capcom will milk that cow a lot :o

What do the Japanese see in Monster Hunter(and Dynasty Warriors)

@Riachu

They must be saying

What do Americans see in Halo & Madden

I know what you mean.  Halo is overrated. Is Halo bad?no.  But is it as good as many Xbox 360 users say it is?Absolutely not.  I have played batter shooters.  If they think Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3 are the best shooters ever, they never heard of Call of Duty 4 and Bioshock.  I am sure many others will agree with me.  I can't comment on Madden since I never actually played Madden

Sony are going to seriously regret losing the console Monster Hunter game..

Thats not true, capcom said that the Playstation brand may receive more monster hunter games in the future. This does not mean MH3 will be exclusive to the wii either.
