I really hope FFXIII will result in a turn around like NA has seen for PS3 in Japan

 It'll be a long time before the PS3 starts to sell well in Japan, if ever.

Not exactly. MHP is popular because of the WLAN connectivity when your out of the house. The console version of Monster Hunter can't have that kind of connectivity walking around (unless you carry a Wii and a TV everywhere you go.)

There are more than enough PS3 exclusive games of interest to the Japanese lined up (like Metal Gear Solid 4 and White Knight Story), also the anticipated multiplatform 360/PS3 (like BioHazard 5 and the Last Remnant) will almost have PS3 exclusive status for Japan due to the 360 being a non-factor.

A cheaper slimline PS3 like Sony stated is being planned combined with Final Fantasy games I think will really make the PS3 a HOT platform for Japan.

Anyway, amazing PSP figures (IMO shows everything's possible), the slimline version of the PSP really helped a lot for Japan and with good software released is able to outsell all other gaming systems combined! If you predicted this last year, you would have been called a crazy lunatic on the forum.

I can't see any of those games seriously turning around PS3 sales in Japan until Final Fantasy releases some time next year. They're much more likely to give it a boost for a couple of weeks.

Thats the fun part : you go out with a couple of your friends to a coffe shop . Order something to eat/drink . Sit there for 3-5 hours and play a couple of missions . Console versions can never make this happen , and online is way to impresonal to become as successfull as ad-hoc :)

Sony fans downplay MH3's potential for success on Wii but were MAD AS HELL when Capcom canned the game for PS3 and moved it to Wii...
