Sony fans downplay MH3's potential for success on Wii but were MAD AS HELL when Capcom canned the game for PS3 and moved it to Wii...

That, I don't understand.

The answer is simple : the PS3 version of the game would have made a nearly photorealistick monster hunt , while the Wii version , though will probably look better than the PS2/P versions , it wont be that of a huge difference IMO ...

Well some conclusions can be made by drawing comparisons between the handheld and home console versions.

Probably because Monster Hunter is a good game.

But realistically, the game will only sell at best, what Monster Hunter 2 sold on the PS2, since MH sales on consoles aren't that high.  On consoles it's sold ~1 million units with 3 games, and on PSP, it's sold ~4-5 mil once MHP2G's numbers are in.

MH3 isn't going to sell a lot of units, which is why people don't care about it, but I guess PS3 fans would have wanted to play it on their console.

Because fanboys never admit to liking an exclusive on another console?

Overall April looks to be a sloooow month for the PS3.

But I wholeheartedly disagree with the "long time till the PS3 starts selling well remarks".

The way I see it, its suffering because a lesser console in the territory is getting fed games that were more appropriate for later released one.

I think that when the 360 officially gets drawn out of Japan, the PS3 will start selling decently.

I could also imagine the 360 is causing confusion in which console should be bought.

I don't think I said anything about it not being successful, but people should not make comparisons of the portable version of MH to the console version of MH. They won't sell the same, because as I've said before, the WLAN function of MHP is extremely popular to the Japanese people on the go, and the console version simply won't have that kind of appeal.

I didn't see a mass outrage amongst Sony supporters. Personally I congratulated Nitendo for getting this title onto the platform.

I do however think a PS2 version makes sense commercially if not aiming for high definition platforms (makes sense considering PS3 and 360 even combined so far have a small install base for Japan), near all Monster Hunter fans already own a PS2 and/or PSP. IMO commercially being a Wii exclusive doesn't make much sense, I guess they are either working on a PS2 port behind the scenes as well (maybe to be released after the Wii version hype dies out) or have some very lucrative non-risk deal with Nintendo.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

Go PSP :D

When MH3 was on the PS3, it was going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Now that it's on the Wii, it won't sell because it won't translate to a console.
