The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

- The game is 1080p now
- It's portable
- It has a good battle mode now with at least two modes, one of them being my favorite bob-omb blast from Double Dash. They also mentioned there were still some surprises left when it comes to new modes.
- It has actual battle maps, some are remakes and some are new. Much better than battling on race tracks.
- It has new items like the feather and the boo and you can hold two items simultaneously now.
- It has new characters and race carts like King Boo and the Inklings.
- It includes all the previous DLC, so it's jam-packed with content.
Obviously I would have also liked to see new race tracks, but it's not the end of the world. I'll just sell my Wii U and Mario Kart 8 and buy the Deluxe version.

When most standard GOTY editions retail for the same amount as the original, I find it hard to think of this as "bad value". While I would like more tracks (obviously more is usually better), this is still a killer deal for those who don't own the original while also being tempting for those who do (especially if they didn't buy the DLC).
| Hiku said: Of course I did. They said that the original game had a total of 48 tracks. So with this they draw the conclusion that there are no new tracks included in this game. Because I specifically said "new" tracks. Just had to make sure I understood, because I assumed you may have made a mistake somewhere, but you are essentially worrying about a scenario that is highly unlikely to happen. No, it won't affect me personally. Although that's only because I didn't actually play the game I bought, which in any normal situation, I would have. I asked how others who owned and played MK8 feel about it. Ok I see. Thanks for clearing this up especially. This was hurting my head. "Either I buy it or I don't"?
That's the thing, it's so inconsequential either way. If you got the game and played all the DLC, it's basically a decision over a whim. If you really are addicted to the game, or want to play it anywhere, or are really interested in the battle mode, go for it. Otherwise don't; I care so little I would leave it up to a coin flip. Not my first time. Its not about the defense of any particular thread; I bring it up to bring a question to you without asking it: "is it really that big of a deal that a game that contains all the DLC of the previous games, increases resolution, revamps the biggest qualm people have with the previous version and adds new characters?" |

It's not worth buying again, definitely not for a full $60. I mean I do like battle mode but not that much. The lack of new tracks tells me Mario Kart 9 is sooner rather than later, so I'll just wait til then.

Yeah, I'm even doubting there will be any paid DLC for new tracks at this point. Definitely not what I expected. But perhaps it's for the best, if MK9 isn't too far around the corner. |
I'm expecting MK9 to be announced at E3 2018 and release holiday that year or spring 2019, so I just don't see how they could make another 16 dlc tracks while still having 32 to spare in such short amount of time.
| Hiku said: Well, I'm not measuring it in that way. I'm basically asking, "Will you buy it again now? And would you have bought it if they added some new tracks, and had a few more as paid DLC down the line?" |
In that case, for most its still a no. I'm 50/50. Namely because I love playing battle mode locally. I have a lot of friends and family who do too. It's all consistent on how many can play and how consistenly we can meet up.
Obviously they are going to start working on 9 or another IP, but when that releases would be the issue. I image it will be announced next year the earliest. In that instance, I would be up in the air because you bought the previous version. Either way cash it in or sell it

But it has this :P
The game comes with 48 tracks and 2 great Battle modes with their own battle courses, is not exactly lacking content, maybe it lacks value for previous owners that also bought the dlc but not for anyone else, and now is on the go so even previous owners can find it appealing again.
If you didn't get both dlcs then it is still worth it.
But I can see it getting an extra 1-2mil.
