Forums - Nintendo - Switch to have paid online!

Paid online for Nintendo switch.

Thats alright, everyone else does it already. 36 25.17%

Eh.... 20 13.99%

BOO!!!! 87 60.84%

Total:143

You say "paid online," I say "no buy"

Looks like Switch will end up a JRPG machine to me. IF it gets them in the first place. I've already lost interest in MK8 and Spla2n because of this

An old NES or SNES etc game playable for a month.

Doesn't compare to the 6 titles I can every month with Playstation.

You can also keep those games in your library permenantly with the Xbox one and ps4, and you get all ranges of games available. So nice to see it available, but it really doesn't compare.

That's not exactly true.

On the PS4, PS3, PS Vita and XB1 you don't keep the games if your sub lapses. You do get them back when you resubscribe though.

You do however keep the Xb 360 games. In fact, it's even in Microsoft's very faq page here : https://support.xbox.com/en-US/my-account/xbox-live-membership/games-with-gold-faq

But more to your point, it still doesn't compare. Because let's be serious here. Old NES and SNES games don't compare to the games PS or XB offer free. Especially when you add in the fact that aside from them pre dating the 32 bit era, they're also extremely easy to find free with roms and emulators

Many having no idea what the online is like, decided to rate negatively considering it's Nintendo, having been fine paying for Xbox Live since 2006... smh

I also get 4 free games a month, tons of online features not available with Nintendo, and I have a service that's back by Microsoft and has lots of money put into it. So yes, it was a bad move...

Exactly.  XBG and ps plus are vastly superior.  This thing would want to be like $20 cheap.

A bit disappointed by that, can't say I'm too surprised though..

at least you can still play them after you resubscribe.
here even if you have a running subscribtion you can play the free game only for that month. Lets say you get mario 1 for march. when its april you wont be able to play mario anymore but get now zelda 1 to play for the april and this april only

And thus, the end of console gaming for me. I've been playing since 1983 when I was just a tiny little kid, sitting in front of my parents TV, soaking up some Pitfall and E.T. I was right there in 1986 to see the rise of the NES all the way through to present times but alas, the journey ends.

Gaming has turned into a greedy cesspool. Yeah, it's always been a business, but that business has reached critical mass where we're getting so much less for so much more that I can't justify it anymore. How we have gone from paying $200.00 for one console every 6 years to $3/400.00+ every 3 years is beyond me. How we have gone from $40.00 for complete AAA games that are 100% tested and shipped with all DLC on disc to $60.00 games with 60% of the content, filled with bugs and required 20GB patches is beyond me. How we have gone from free online gameplay to all three charging... er... robbing us blind... is beyond me.

I truly am sad to see the day, but gaming has left me. It was a good run but, it's no longer something I recognize. It's calling itself the "game industry" but I don't see it as that. It's something else.

I'm out.

I could argue with every point you made, but its easier to say... PEACE OUT!

I'm curious to see how Nintendo makes this a service worth paying for.

People must have some magical glass balls to look into all the time. Wish I could have also one to justify my rant.

nah I think you misunderstood him. He said "keep those games in your library", which means if you get a "free" game in January, you can still play it in August if you have a subscription.
Here it sounds like Nintendo is giving you a "free" game that you can play for a month and as soon as the next month starts you can't play it anymore (but you will get a new one instead), even if you have a subscription.

Lol the switch seems shit. I'll get Zelda for Wii U on 3/3 and then be done with Nintendo for now.
