Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is screwing those who bought a Wii U

How is this any different than all the PS3 remasters on PS4?

On another note the Wii U failed so hard it be silly not to remaster the games onto a new system to get more money for that software.

Most PS4 remasters were released at least 5 years after the games were released on PS4. Also, most PS3 games worth owning will never be remastered.

And since the Wii U failed there is more reason not to remaster the games. None of the games on Virtual Boy or 64DD were ever ported, most Gamecube games were not ported as well.

The Wii U may have failed spectacularly, but nowhere near as spectacularly as the Virtual Boy and 64DD.  The 64DD was only ever released in Japan and was discontinued after just over a year, and the Virtual Boy didn't even make it to a year.

The Wii U may be getting close to its final shipments now, but it's still been selling for 4 years, despite the problems it faced. There are some excellent Wii U games that deserve better exposure on a new system.  That's every reason to make the games accessible on Switch, especially as physical backward compatibility is not a given.

I don't agree really. I mean what are these games you've mentioned outside off Zelda BOTW. We don't know anything about software on Switch but I really hope games like DKTF are remastered or even ported over with say a new world added in. If Switch sells well then games like DKTF and Xenoblade X deserve more sales. Of course I won't buy the games I already own. Look at sales of TLOUR and GTA5 on ps4. Sold huge amounts on ps3 and huge amounts on ps4.

It's business.

I won´t be mad if those games (Splatoon, Mario Kart 8 etc.) get an anhanced version for the Switch. I don´t see why anyone should be mad about it. Remasters are pretty common today.

But I do agree that Nintendo screwed WiiU owners by interrupting game development for it so soon and for taking so long to offer price cuts and sales for games.

I am still enjoying it and I still have a huge backlog of games to play, but overall the game cathalog still feels short.

The only angle I can see, is that these possible remasters may limit the current Ninendo customers from the experiences that new Switch titles could offer, like a new MK9 built from the ground up for the Switch. We still don't know what software the device is launching with, so it's too early to tell.

It doesnt hurt the Wii U, that the switch gets some enhanced ports from the Wii U.

And it means alot of people that didnt own a Wii U will get to play those games.
Thats a good thing, the switch haveing as many high quality games as possible on release will help it sell.

I don't think the Switch hurts the WiiU, because at this point there is no way anything could hurt it more than it already is. Every single thing that could go wrong with a console went wrong.

-Confusing name.
-Bad advertisement.
-Weak and expensive hardware that couldn't get cheap fast.
-Tablet controller that did not capture the attention of the market at all.
-Competitors gaining a massive advantage in a short amount of time.
-3rd parties abandoning the system quickly.
-1st parties scarce due to struggles with HD developement.
-The first year droughts, probably the worst software drought ever seen with a modern console.
-Library too similar to the 3DS, the cheaper and more popular Nintendo device.

Zelda BotW coming to the Switch is not hurting the system because at this point, not even that game is incentive enough to keep the WiiU around. Better make the best of the situation and push the Switch with everything they've got.

-They have probably been working on Switch software since 2014, so a first year drought probably won't happen.
-Zelda BotW at launch.
-The Switch concept has already become more popular and widespread than the WiiU's in all its lifespam.
-Unifying both handheld and home console means Nintendo can concentrate in just one device, improving their output.

The Switch is already in a better position than the U. Now it's just a matter of whether Nintendo can play their cards right or not.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Let me guess, the biggest indicator for worshipping Nintendo is if someone not only likes Devil's Third, but also passionately defends it.

Thanks for reminder, that Nintendo cancelled Splatoon Festivals and will close Devil's Third servers in December. Very good way to treat your customers.

They are closing down Devil's Third servers? After it sold sooooo well?

North America: 0.04m 64.1%

What a shame!

And it reminds me of this funny thread: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=206844&page=1

butthurt much?

seeing as the console has cost me less than 30 cents/day including the tax...i feel like i got a great deal.  And, yeah, after buying those games for the U I'm totally fine with upgraded ports to a newer system.

I've got many reasons to dislike Wii. Remastering its games to NS is not a problem for me though.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019
