Miyamoto is different from Nintendo. Something Nintendo says wouldn't necessarily be the same thing Miyamoto says.

Nothing about that Mario game looked any different, so I don't think that wad the game they were talking about.

lol whut? Nintendo isn't a person or individual that says things for itself, it's a company made up of tons of people including Miyamoto. When we say a company has said something, we mean the people within it said it, not that the company is literally talking! xD

Only time will tell!

Of course I know that. However when I mean that Nintendo didn't say anything, I meant that they didn't issue out a statement.

You guys are acting like it hasn't happened before. I distinctly remember playing Pokemon on my Super Gameboy. And playing Sapphire on my GCN thanks to the Gameboy Player. I've had mainline pokemon games on console before.

At least say "my" instead of trying to speak in other people's name

People seem to be really keen on forgetting that Nintendo stated that Switch is a home console. Yes, it also acts as a portable console, but it's designed as a home console and as such, it would probably be wise to assume it won't be treated as a portable. 3DS has sold a good bit and it's far from dead, so I'm expecting Nintendo to still continue releasing handhelds. They won't stop after a successful device, they'll stop after an unsuccessful one. Besides, Switch is too big for a lot of things you could use a handheld for.

...and yet their very own NS trailer shows it as a handheld 95% of the time.  Who are they fooling if their own trailer shows it more as a handheld than a home console.

Until Nintendo can confirm if the Switch's dock provides additional horsepower to enhance the 'home console' experience, the Switch we currently know is nothing more than a portable device that can connect to a TV.

It's currently doing the exact same feature as the PSP Go with it's dock.  It's like hooking up a laptop up to a monitor and using a KB/M, you're not going to call it a desktop just cause you hooked it up to a monitor, its still a laptop.

Obviously they want to show off what makes it different. They'd be stupid not to. And I agree that technically it's a portable, but I wouldn't expect it to get treated like one - at least right away. They'll treat it as a home console for a good while, I'm sure.

This is precisely the reason why I intend to buy a Switch.

Well I don't see Nintendo releasing a 3DS sucessor now with the NS so it's best if Nintendo treats this as a handheld equally as a home console.

....unless they still plan to release a new handheld soon O_o

This will be Switch's killer app.

Thought they confirmed no Pokémon (main line) on switch

Not really they confirmed Pokemon's mainline games will always be on portables but have said if the is a way to bring the console with you in a portable fashion the mainline games would hit console as well. NS already has some kind of Pokemon game confirmed to be on the way.
