Forums - Nintendo - Is Nintendo lowering the quality of its release ?

The word you were looking for is "scope, " not quality, and they've been doing this for over a decade.

This.

Captain Toad and Yoshi are really fun games, but they lack scope.

In fact the Wii U library kinda lacks scope, i mean i love platformers don't get me wrong but aside from Xenoblade X, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, the Zelda remakes, maybe Hyrule Warriors and probably Tokyo Mirage (haven't played it, probably never will, it's not the crossover i wanted and i dislike the pop art theme) most games are kinda... safe, they still are great/amazing because of their gameplay & level design, but they lack scope & ambition.

I just can't wait for Breath of the Wild, Nintendo needs to do more games like that.

Star Fox Zero, Yoshi, Captain Toad, and Paper Mario meta just as high as any of Xbox or Sony's exclusives.

There is an overall dip in quality - but I think that's because Nintendo wants dev staff to roll off WiiU projects as quickly as possible to start NX ones.

Just as high as Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted 4, Bloodborne?

not those ones, but Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros U, 3D World, Bayonetta 2, Wind Waker HD, Mario Maker, Pikmin 3 all have metas in the high 80s/low 90s.

DQ (besides X which is more of a spin off) and Persona have yet to have releases in the west. So your statement holds no validity. You're just naming off well liked JRPGs

Dragon Quest 7 released, and it's a full remake not just a lazy port. My statements are perfectly valid. Tokyo Mirage isn't even in the contention of being one of the best RPG.

Still a remake, not a new entry. It may feel new but it is not new

Especially on Wii U:

Animal Crossing Amiibo festival

Starfox Zero

Yoshi Wooly World's

Captain Toad

Now Paper Mario

It's rather embarassing.

We need more epic, ambitious games like Xenoblade, Bayonetta 2 and less average and rushed games.

I couldn't care less about Bayonetta 2, but Nintendo first/second party is an embarrassment. Check out my blog on Nintendo that I just posted.

Metroid for 3DS? Does it deserve the name? Where is the sequel to Mario Galaxy 2? Mario 3D world isn't it. Nintendo is not the Nintendo it was. They should be embarrassed with poor and lazy ports to 3DS like Hyrule Warriors and Mario Maker that's missing features.

I would agree that Nintendo is lowering the quality of their games, but not the titles listed in the OP. Heck, even the quality in Amiibo Festival is great. The issue with that game is the gameplay, which is severely lacking. Likely none of these games were even rushed.

Having played Wooly World, that is not one lacking quality, but quite the opposite. The presentation is quite excellent in that game, and it's fun. I can't say anything on the other titles, as I have not played them, but I would disagree with the games listed overall.

I'd say Pikmin 3DS, Wooly World 3DS, Mario Party Star Rush and Ultra Smash are the ones guilty of being low quality rushed games.

Yes it deserves the name. Why? Because it's set in the universe. It has Metroids. It has Space Pirates. It even has Samus. You just don't play as her. Mario Galaxy 3 does not exist because they don't want to make it. Galaxy 2 started as just an expansion pack. Oh, and how is Hyrule Warriors 3DS missing features? It actually has exclusive features compared to the Wii U version. The 3DS Mario Maker was made for Japan, where you'll see a lot of people looking for other people to streetpass.

Bite your tongue. Captain toad is wonderful, as will paper Mario be, and yoshi wooly world is good too. But I do agree their really big epic games are being saved for nx.

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker is one of the best games on Wii U. And the best part is that it was fan-requested, because those levels in 3D World were so popular. It looks BETTER than 3D World and is filled with content, charm, and brilliant level-design. A fantastic puzzle platformer at a reasonable price.

Yoshi's Woolly World is a great platformer, and again it looks fantastic and plays really well. Much more ambitious and well-made than NSMBU. Or any NSMB game for that matter.

As for Amiibo Festival and Star Fox, the former was probably made because a REAL Animal Crossing game was probably switched over to NX when it became clear Wii U wouldn't sell enough consoles to really make the game worth bringing to it. Star Fox is just Miyamoto trying to force gamepad controls and being lazy with rehashing an old game, and getting Platinum to do really meh graphical effects.

It's been clear for about two years now though, other than Splatoon and Xenoblade, that development teams had shifted from Wii U to NX. Same for 3DS with a lot of games using recycled assets, like Kirby Robobot and Happy Home Designer and Paper Jam. They've had 2-3 years now for a lot of their teams to work hardcore on NX games, especially this past year or two in particular.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

The thing is that this Paper Mario is not really a paper mario game, at least it does not look like it. The original Paper Mario was a pretty deep RPG, this new one looks like some kind of clever plataformer.
