Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I think Nintendo is afraid to reveal NX

I guess they will try to see how much time it takes for real info to leak, as the Eurogamer report looks like a dud

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Its not same marketing, Nintendo making huge changes last two years, also they had some big changes in marketing department, fact they didn't reveal NX one year before launch and now 5-6 months before launch also point that Nintendo is taking totally different approach compared to Wii U.

Actually Nintendo marketing in recent time was pretty good. For instance all 3DS marketing and NES Mini marketing are great.

You are getting ridiculous, marketing is doing for postives sides and difrences of system compared to competiotion, of course they will not market how much strong NX is compared to PS4 Pro. Nintendo said itself NX is not about power and they will not compete with power with competition, they several times said "new concept" and "new way of playing" so marketing will be mostly focused on that and great new games.

The only hardware that has come out recently from Nintendo is the 2DS, which isn't selling well despite its rock bottom price, and the upcoming NES Mini which doesn't need marketing. NX will be a real test. Can Nintendo Marketing make a underpowered 720p tablet into a desirable product? We'll have to see when Nintendo finally unveils the thing.

Point is that they have much better marketing in recent times than before and they definitely changed and still changing lotsa things, including approach for NX reveal and marketing.

NX is not 720p tablet, its a hybrid of home console and handheld, product that can be used like real home console and real handheld, while you acting like Nintendo is relasing just 720p tablet, lol. Also you forget how they managed Wii marketing, that is basically overclocked GameCube with motion controls.

Neo/Scorpio caught Nintendo off guard, no question. Also coming off Wii U (failure), its hard to blame bigN for being meticulously cautious about the reveal. There are gaming generations, but then there's eras - NX is a new era, so its make or break for the next decade+ and Ninty wants to make sure they get it right.

Couldn't Nintendo rely on SCDs to get rid of the power issue?

It must have crossed their mind since they patented it. But the SCD comes with certain choises which Nintendo might not find agreeable.

Hmm, which are those?

System is going to be revealed until January. My guess is 13-18. This holiday they have Super Mario Run for mobiles, Nes Mini for the nostalgic mainstream and Pokemon / Mario Maker for the 3DS userbase (alongside other minor titles)

So 1,5 months before its launch, they will reveal it?

Thats super damn late, and maybe not enough to market it right.

This could launch without the masses aware of it, and sell bad simply because people go "NX what? whats that?"

If they dont reveal it this month, honestly I think they should just delay the launch.

No. 2 months are enough for the correct product. They can send the right and complete message at the reveal.

Anyone saying that Scorpio and Neo caught Nintendo off guard is reaching! These .5 consoles have been rumored to be a possibility back in late 2014 early 2015. These systems are going to be underutilized versions of the original base.

Nintendo announced first, but revealing last...when NX was first mentioned, Mar 2015, there was no hint of ps "4.5" or "xbox two".

The first rumors first came to fruition during GDC this year. Iwata passed on last year in July. Nintendo is going off of what Iwata set up and since Iwata passed before the console iterations happened, I'd wager that Nintendo wasn't prepared for Pro or Scorpio.

According to rumors, its a tablet with detachable controllers and a 720p screen. Nintendo can call it whatever they want, but a consumer is going to see a Nintendo branded 720p tablet.

According to rumours its handheld with detachable controllers and "base unit", hybrid of home console and handheld, its not just Nintendo 720p tablet and nobady will call it like that becuse it not point about tablet at all, it will call it handheld/console hybrid.
