Well, that's quite what happened to me. I was very underwhelmed by the PS4 Pro presentation as well. I just don't see the benefits and think there are too many drawbacks to justify that step. What really got on my nerves though, was the fact that many games won't even give you the option of running the game at 60 fps. It would be possible with any game if you sacrifice 4K resolution, but developers decide and for some reason won't allow it in some cases.
I don't know, the PS4 Pro doesn't do any good for me and console gaming as I loved it is now pretty much dead. If I have to deal with gigantic day one patches, full installations on HDD and now upgrades every few years anyway, I may as well switch to PC altogether. And that's what I did, I got myself a new gaming notebook just two days ago. Nothing too fancy, but it plays every modern game with ease at Full HD, in many cases with 60 fps. An if there's a Witcher 3 which refuses to work in 60 fps in 1080p? Well, then I can either play at 30 fps or bump that resolution down to 720p for glorious fluid 60 fps.
I'm loving it so far and I'm not looking back. I also consider building a rig at the end of the year with a GeForce 1070 or something. I'll have to see just how much I'll be enjoying PC gaming in the coming months to justify such an investment. But I'm really turned off by the PS4 right now and I haven't touched the console for months anyway. I'll get back to it for Persona 5. But I think that's about it for me and consoles for this generation.
I'm not saying modern consoles are BS or something, but they're just not anymore what I expect from them. So hello PC, nice to get back to you after about 10 years of nearly exclusively playing on consoles.
Oh, and I also had to laugh a little when I read that Sony built the Pro to compete with PC. Had quite the opposite effect in my case. I mean, I know I'm not the centre of the universe and the masses probably think differently about that whole topic, but I still had to chuckle. =D
