Goldeneye easily. Still the best shooter ever to this day imo.

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II

I voted Doom simply because I think it remains the most fun to this day with it's no-frills action, and because due to its relative simplicity it's aged better than more complex games like Goldeneye, in my opinion.

I also like how cheesily badass it is, in such a classically 90s way; demons, chainsaws and over-the-top guns on Mars. It's got the vibe of one of those so-bad-it's-good B movie, and as a fan of such movies, I love it.

Half-Life!

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil.

Why? Because it wasn't just running down hallways and shooting stuff, and its levels were massive. You could (and had to) go back to previous levels too. Cool weapons. Good music too; and it had to be good because you were listening to the same theme for hours at a time.

N64?

Doom I & II, Quake I, and GoldenEye 007 are definite contenders for the top spot.

Though technically the 20th century ran from 1901 to 2000, not 1900 to 1999, so if we include the year 2000 then Perfect Dark would definitely be my favorite.

Yes, it depends on this technicality, but Perfect Dark was a significantly improved version of Goldeneye 64!

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Too many console gamers in this topic. 90s was the golden age of FPSes but only on PC. Groundbreaking games like Half-Life, Thief, Unreal in 1998 were not technically possible on console. That's why we see sorry ass Turok 2 and Goldeneye in this topic which is blasphemy to PC as platform.

Some great choices out there: Doom, Quake III, Unreal, Unreal Tournament, Half-Life, Turok, Turok 2, Medal of Honor, etc.

I think I'll go with GoldenEye 007. It really shook up the standard corridor shooter by adding mission objectives. And multiplayer was ridiculously addictive.
