Forums - Gaming Discussion - Best FPS game of the 20th century

The best is...

Doom 45 12.30%

Goldeneye 007 117 31.97%

Quake 10 2.73%

Quake II 6 1.64%

Quake III Arena 8 2.19%

Half Life 115 31.42%

Unreal Tournament 20 5.46%

Wolfenstein 3D 7 1.91%

Other 38 10.38%

Total:366

Now that I come back a bit later, and reread the ideas and everything, I have to change my mind from Unreal Tournament, but I don't know what to.

Poor Rol had to pick a game nobody has heard of because he's so stubborn and boycots all HD platforms.

Are you saying there was HD platforms before the year 2000?

PC was HD capable back in 2000. ;)

It's obviously GoldenEye 007. The Facility is still one of the greatest multiplayer maps on a FPS ever.

Also, you can crouch down and spank Natalya's ass when she's typing during one segment of the game.

Goldeneye 007 was the best. It defined what FPS games would be like from then on. No more of this Turok/Quake/Doom-like dungeon crawling stuff.

Goldeneye 007 was a killer application. Half Life was not.

No Star Wars: Jedi Knight? or Jedi Academy?

Goldeneye for the Multiplayer
Doom for the Single Player

LOL!!!!

Sorry, but this statement is just hilarious.  Half Life has been used as template for single player FPS games ever since it came out and paved the way for FPS storytelling.

Half-Life certainly was a killer application for me.
