Forums - Gaming Discussion - would a portable (NX) GTAV be huge?

Wii mote would have been difficult to program an open world game that does so many things, so I think it was the controller that was the reason they did not do it. If NX has buttons GTA V would work well with it and with enough power like having a Tegra X1 it would be able to handle GTA V very easily.

T2 didnt release gta on the wii or any other nintendo systems simply because they dont think sales would be good enough. Do you seriously think gta would sell tens of millions on the nx?

They released GTA 1 and 2 on GBC, GTA advance on GBA and GTA Chinatown Wars on DS so they did think it would sell well. It didn't but it could sell well with a third person behind the back camera like in GTA V.

No.

GTA is more something you play at home on the console/pc, than something youd want to play while you had 20-30m ride on the train.

Nintendo fans that also play gta,... probably a small number. Would likely be a flop to port it, plus its a old game by now.

GTA players like both. GTA LCS and VCS are two of PSP's best selling games and LCS is the best selling game on PSP, they have sold over 7 and 5 million units and GTA V is much bigge than what GTA used to be back then. It can sell very well.

Btw GTA V still sells like a new game on existing consoles every week despite being a late port on PS4 and XB1.

GTA: Liberty City Stories PSP - 7.72m

GTA: Vice City Stories PSP - 5.02m

GTA userbase plays GTA games wherever they are, and GTA Liberty City Stories is the best selling PSP game, so it has a huge handheld audience that hasn't been served sine 2009.

Also, Japan sales for GTA V:

PS3 - 0.97m

PS4 - 0.32m

360 - 0.06m

Total - 1.35m

Its one of the best selling home console gamesof this decade in Japan and would do even better on a handheld.

You call those Japan numbers best selling? LOL

Look at Japan's home console game sales and try and tel me otherwise. I think only Splatoon has sold more in this decade.

Mario Kart 8 sold 700,000 copies in 6 months in Japan. Super Smash Bros for 3DS sold 944,000 in its first week in Japan, now currently has 1.7 million units as of Nov 2015.

I said home consoles, and Mario Kart 8 sold less than GTA V. It sold 1.24m while GTA V sold 1.35m. SSB on Wii U also sold less than GTA V.

No because GTA will never be on a Nintendo console.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

Every game you listed was released for last generation devices... And chances are. Played to death by millions already.
Don't you wan't new gaming experiences rather than old ones?

Definitely but GTA is still top 10 every week in sales and is continually being played in GTA online. A Skyrim Remaster is coming out this fall.

The novelty of portability may make people want to go back and play these games, more so than HD remasters.

Playing GTA on a handheld wouldn't be the same as playing it on console or PC. I doubt it would sell all that well.

You probably think so because you haven't played one of the PSP GTA games. VCS is probably my second favourite GTA game, only behind GTA V, and if NX hardwrae specs are true GTA V on NX will be amazing.

I've mentioned it many times, but LCS and VCS have sold over 12.7 million combined on PSP.

I know the GTA games were popular on the PSP ( I'm from Eastern Europe), but there is no way GTA on NX would perform the same.

There is definitely a GTA audience on Nintendo consoles, it's just much smaller than on other consoles. The trick would be to bring GTA fans onto a Nintendo platform, which might be done by a solid standalone spinoff (in addition to a port of GTA V). I'm not sure that Rockstar has that kind of interest in expanding into Nintendo territory.

Does anyone still play GTA V? And stop trying to make Nintendo+GTA happen, it's not going to happen. I'm more excited about a Pokémon with HD graphics than with a HD game on a handheld.

Lol.

Gta is always near the top of the chart on NPD every month.  The game has an absolute shit ton of current players both old and new buyers.
