If Animal Crossing iOS/Android is a huge hit too, it's really going to heighten the issue very quickly.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't. Animal Crossing is the perfect IP for Mobile, assuming it's done right. The previous games in the series already suit mobile as is, they just need to make a few alterations as regards to how it is monetised and social interactions.

Trying to catch a bee using touch controls would be almost impossible. The only way Animal Crossing works on mobile is if it's totally watered/dumbed down and that's what I fear the most.

This is a slippery slope and I don't think people are realizing just how slippery it is.

Is Pokémon Go the new NX?

Errr, no it wouldn't Animal Crossing Wild World's touch controls were absolutely fine. There is no part of Animal Crossing that would need to be watered down for mobile. the whole game is very sedate and very easy to control with touch. Fishing, Digging, Planting, Arranging Furniture, talking to people, buying crap. Animal Crossing is the perfect game for mobile.

The funny thing about the "Nintendo is doomed" phrase, is that it's been like 10 years that nobody says it except Nintendo fanboys...

Just stop saying it, you're ridiculous. You're not mocking anybody, you just look scared and trying to reassuring yourselves.

In recent years the main concern about Nintendo has been about their console business, will they keep making consoles, especially home consoles. And this is actually a real and important question.

And the huge success of Pokemon GO, which is probably their biggest success since the Wii/DS, isn't reassuring for the console market.

It will all depend on the success of their next generation of consoles

Good news for Nintendo. And I doubt Nintendo is gonna go full mobile anytime soon. They watched the Zynga bubble burst so they know what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket.

Either way its good money and hopefully they find a way to keep up the momentum when NX launches.

Thanks to mobile.

This is another indeed that it would work perfectly. Nintendo should really go full third-party.

The game is truly fun for people who like to move a lot. I have a Fitbit so I already move a ton to get in shape, this only makes it more enjoyable.

I cans see fast food joints making an absolute killing along with Nintendo if they were to do some sort of deal. Like turning all fast food places into gyms or battle towers lol.

Then it would backfire, while people will complain about promoting junk food. I'm confused at the OP's article statment. So the Wii's massive success was lower than Pokemon Go's success?

They need a pokemon game for nx. Strike while it's hot in the eyes of the general, non gaming population.
