Forums - Movies & TV - Ghostbusters review: call off the trolls – Paul Feig's female reboot is a blast 4 / 5 stars

1) maybe reviewers won't be so harsh to prevent accusations of being sexist?

2) if the movie actually is good, whoever made the trailers deserve to get fired.

3) wasn't a big fan of ghostbusters in the first place. Not sure if I'll see this. Might see it if my brother is interested.

4) pretty sure people will still find something to complain about in the movie. Nothing can be too PC.

Not sure about anyone else, but the "comedy" shown to us in the trailers was very bland, uninspiring, and generic. Only time I saw anyone laugh at the trailer in the theaters was when the black woman was screaming "the power of christ compels you". Hardehar. A black woman screaming is the most original and funny thing I've ever seen.

To be fair though, the original ghostbusters wasn't exactly gut busting funny. Then again, it was a silly movie, and wasn't taken so seriously.

The new ghosts make it hard to not take seriously...that is, unless they want us to take this movie seriously. Really hope they aren't aiming for that

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Great news... Lots of hope for color splash :)

never going to review badly given how the media is.

Think there will be a big discrepancy between the reviews and what the average cinema-goer will think of this movie

Wow, it is actually getting a good reception. I'd probably watch it at matinee price.

I never understood all the hate behind it. It's a different style of comedy as you don't have Murray's and Akroyds humour, but I'm sure that would have failed as the actresses would have had to imitate them. The director has gone with what works with this cast and it seems to do the job.

The CG never looked bad so I don't get those complaints either.

I'm a huge GB fan. Own the movies on DVD and BR and I make I watch them every year. I even bought the PS3 game at launch and watched the cartoons growing up. In my opinion, we need to watch this film the same way we watched the original, with an open mind and not so seriously.

With this not sucking, my cinemagoing future now is packed. Ice Age with my little bro, new Bourne film, Ghostbusters, Suicide Squad, Dory with the entire family, Star Trek, geeez.

I was one of the handful who waited for the reviews to come out despite the universal hatred for the trailers. I am too surprised by the critics for this movie. Now, will it do good at the box office due to its continuous hate?

Metascore is around 60, doesn't appear to be fantastic either. Lower side of mediocre is fine for a summer movie though, and quite common. I believe more people will see it due to the press it got in advance and all the noise surrounding it, ironically leading the loudest critics into causing bigger profits and maybe even a sequel...

Still think it looks like crap based on trailers though. Then again, I was never a huge fan of the originals either so it doesn't really matter all that much (GASP!!!).

Still not interested.

It's still dog shit and I hope it bombs.
