I agree with a lot of your points (and disagree in some)

I don't believe Wii shares as big a market share with PS360 as PS2 did with xbox and GC. Frankly, I have a PS3 and I won't get a xbox but I might consider getting a Wii, it's almost a completely different console for me.

Personally I think a lot of Wii owners will end up getting 1 (or 2) of PS360 anyway, when the price is lower.

  • I'd argue that the Wii's in a league of it's own , it's not in direct competition with the 360 and PS3 . Many Wii owners( who are also hardcore gamers) are PSWii or Wii360. I can't imagine anyone settling with the Wii alone for current gen gaming.
    There are lots of people with only a Wii. Also, I can't imagine anyone settling with a PS3 or 360 alone this generation. Any real "hardcore" gamer should own a Wii to play the myriad of excellent titles on it.

  • I don't think the 360 or the PS3 (unless you wanna compare the PS3 with sony's last console) should be seen as doing badly simply because the Wii is doing good , I read some where on this site that the 360 has significantly better attach rates than the Wii, wouldn't this imply that a higher percentage of 360 and PS3 owners are different kinds of gamers ?(hardcore gamers maybe) THEY AREN'T IN THE SAME MARKET.
    This may be true to some extent, but the PS3 is doing bad compared to what Sony has always done (PS1 and PS2). There's just no denying. If N64 and Gamecube flopped, so is the PS3.
  • Up until recently the 360 and the PS3 where much more expensive than the Wii , at launch I coulda bought multiple Wii's for the price of the PS3 , why ? BECAUSE THEY AREN'T IN THE SAME BLOODY MARKET.
    Price is a big factor, but not as important as most make it out to be.The 360 is cheaper than the Wii now, but doesn't sell even half as much.
  • A grandma , 40 , 35 year old doesn't walk into a shop and say "oh the Wii's are sold out , i'll buy a 360 instead because it's equally cheap) a large % of Nintnedo's market aren't

I know I am in the minority but I agree with you man. I bought a Wii and while its a fun novelty... its not something I play every day...or every week for that matter. Its more of a party system and a good house decoration.

Sales of the wii are disgusting tho. Especially considering you can count the games worth playing on 2 hands...

Whoa, Whoa, WHOA!! Just calm down there buddy. Take it easy. It's not that big of a deal.

Now let's compare DS sales to the PS3. The PS3 is getting whupped!! I mean what the heck? Isn't the PS3 "supposed" to be more powerful? Why isn't it selling better........

Isn't that what Nintendo said though? That they're not competing on the same level as the others?

I know that was probably an excuse they could use if they failed, but still, hypocracy.


 If they said that, it was most likely a marketing niche they were trying to create.  Trying to point out to the casual market that the 360 and PS3 aren't going for their buys.  If Nintendo has said that it was for some marketing ploy like that, which really has seemed to work well.

But factually they are competing in the same market.  If they weren't then we'd see trends of PS3 and 360 similar to that of the PS2, Xbox, and GC generation before us.

A Dead Horse is not =,> Piñata, Video Game, Meat because they are NOT THE SAME!!

If you want to beat your Piñata, that's great. They are good for being beaten, and were designed by Mexico for the express purpose.

If you want to beat your video games, that's great too. Try not to cheat, but when you do beat it, it'll be a nice achievement.

If you want to beat your meat, that's okay, I don't judge that type of thing. It's perfectly healthy, just make sure you have privacy while you're doing it.
