Between Wii U and NX, Zelda U will be lucky to hit 7 million.

Twilight Princess was a much more mainstream take on the series, released back when Nintendo were far more popular and relevant than they are today, and that sold 8.9 million between Gamecube and Wii.

Exactly, the userbase won't even be as big as the Gamecube's was, let alone the Wii. Also, after the first year, I can't see a cross gen title being all that appealing. By then newer games that look much better will have released. A lot of people are talking about the open world as well, but fail to see that kind of as a double edge sword. Some people are put off by the length of those games. And if some of the rumors are true (such as being able to be a male or female) then the story is obviously not going to be as in depth as Skyward Sword.

Hype is dying for this game though I think and that's a problem

This Zelda will probably be one of the best selling games in the series, simply because it will be the first Zelda with voice acting and it's grand open world design will make this epic!

 Voice acting? Is this confirmed? I still don't think there will be voice acting but would love to be suprised

Been keeping up with the NX thread on Neogaf and multiple credible sources have all but confirmed the same rumor of Zelda U/NX having voice acting for everyone except Link and maybe some kind of gender choice for Link as your playable character. Apparently this and development of the game on the NX is why it was delayed so long as it was...

The game is almost death, it sold something like 60,000 last quarter if i'm not wrong, and was an holidays quarter. Will be lucky to sell 2 million, 3 million is madness.

Still, great sales for a remake of one of the lower Zelda game in term of sales...

It all depends on how amazing Zelda U turns out to be. Honestly, Twilight Princess was a pretty average entry in the Zelda series and really only refined the formula established by Ocarina of Time. If Zelda U turns out to be a revolutionary open-world adventure game the way that Mario 64 or Final Fantasy VII were for their respective genres, I could definitely see Zelda U hitting 10 million sales. What's important to get to 10 million is that the new Zelda game is capable of pulling large numbers of people from outside their current fan-base. A conventional Zelda game that plays it safe will not do this but another ground-breaking title like Ocarina of Time could potentially do so.

Twilight Princess on GameCube didn't reach 2 million on a 21 million userbase but you're predicting 4 million on Wii U when the Nx version is probably going to be released first?
