Titanic a masterpiece? Are you serious? Whats next? Avatar is the best movie ever?

Lol can't agree more, both Titanic and Avatar didn't deserve the success they got, some of the most over-rated films.

You do realize that Titanic got re released TFA will more then likely make more money then Titanic did in its first theatrical run.

Titanic is like the greatest movie ever made!!!!
Not only was it #1 at the box office, it is like the ONLY film in history to have sweeped the OSCARS AND become one of the biggest grossers of all-time.

It is truly a modern day masterpiece and will be looked upon years and YEARS from now like they do films like Gone with the Wind, Casablanca and The Godfather, etc.

And yes, I'm happy TFA won't beat Titanic or Avatar BUUUT...I've heard it's due to the exchange rate. The European dollar is VERY weak right now against the US dollar and results in a loss of like $400 million compared to 2009 when Avatar was released and the US dollar was weaker.
But hey, it is what it is, right?

Well even with the unfavorable exchange rate TFA is just not as popular overseas as some other recent pictures since it only manages to get 54.9% of its total revenue from oversease.  Jurrasic World managed 61% and Furious 7 managed 76.7%.  Kung Fu Panda 3 currently got 63.3% of its total revenue from overseas market but that percentage will still go up a lot since its opening in a lot of more markets in March and isn't finished releasing everywhere until April the 13th.

Titanic is a great movie, Star Wars doesn't interest me in the slightest and I still find it funny when I get these odd looks when I tell people I've never watched a Star Wars movie

Titanic did not sweep the Oscars. (Past tense is "swept" btw). It won 11 Oscars of 14 nominations. That ties for most wins with Ben-Hur and LOTR RotK(the latter did sweep the Oscars)

I was way too young when Titanic was in theatres. Something like 12 years old, I wasn't interested at all in romantic movies at that time, so I skipped Titanic. Until this very day, I never watched the movie. But I like Di Caprio.

I also didn't watch Star Wars: TFA, simply because I love space. And I love space the way it is in reality, not that bullshit in Star Wars. I mean, it's ok to add some creative freedom to a story, but in Star Wars it's way too bad. Literally anything is possible, there are no laws of physics whatsoever and they don't even try to explain ANYTHING. In Star Trek, they at least have explanations for all their crazy futuristic stuff. I can't stand to watch a Star Wars movie, because the picture of space is just so so bad in it. Like, even worse than in most B-Movies. Screw dat.

If it doesn't I'd be surprised. I'm pretty sure when Titanic came out it cost maybe £3-5 to get in, now it's £8-10 (if not 3D :P), it should have easily made more.

Hmm, pie.

It not even close to being official TFA is still in the top 10 domestically and will be in theaters at least another 60 days.

It's official. TFA won't make $160M more worldwide. Heck, it only made $10M this past week-end.

You do realise that Titanic didn't have the luxury of the Chinese market? You also do realise that ticket prices are higher now than then?

You are including the revenue of titanic 2012 re-release, correct? That is cheating :p

Anyways, I have no interest whatsoever in SW, but Titanic on the other hand is a great movie, no doubt.

Many films had had re-releases and if titanic was to have been released this era it would do more.
