The European dollar is VERY weak right now against the US dollar and results in a loss of like $400 million compared to 2009 when Avatar was released and the US dollar was weaker. But hey, it is what it is, right? |
Well even with the unfavorable exchange rate TFA is just not as popular overseas as some other recent pictures since it only manages to get 54.9% of its total revenue from oversease. Jurrasic World managed 61% and Furious 7 managed 76.7%. Kung Fu Panda 3 currently got 63.3% of its total revenue from overseas market but that percentage will still go up a lot since its opening in a lot of more markets in March and isn't finished releasing everywhere until April the 13th.
