Forums - Sony - I don't like Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection so far...

Uncharted 1 by todays standards is considered old. By development standards its over a decade old. The gameplay style set the pace for its future titles. When it came out it was one of the pinnacle games of its genre. A true credit. Its even credited with having the style that breathed new life into Tomb Raider.

Not to mention that while 2 if naturally more of a polished game, the first Uncharted was... the first in a series, they had to build everything from the ground up. I know it's obvious but feel it has to be pointed out that creating a new IP and creating the characters from scratch is always going to take more time and effort than just slapping a 2 on a title and continueing the story.

Also worth noting that it was being created as the first game in the series on the PS3, a system which during the launch window people were having a ton of trouble getting their head around how to make that CELL processor behave and even get their games to look half as decent as X360 versions did with its far less powerful cpu, Naughty dog had a good few things fighting them when creating the first Uncharted compared to the Second is all I'm saying.

3 was fantastic.

This, and story wise it was a far bigger deviation from 2 than 2 was from 1.

In fact, I'd say that 3 was my favorite.

was my favorite as well. people seem to forget about multiplayer when they talk about uncharted.

multiplayer wise UC3 >>>>>>> UC2 (even though UC2's multiplayer was fucking great)

Well if you dont know how to play Uncharted, it normal the game can be hard. (IMO)
One thing for sure the score you gave 5.5/10 it's not justified,

Exactly. Naughty Dog were masterminds for working their way around the cell. They also said before that they are waiting for a more powerful platform to make the Uncharted they've always wanted  to make.

Tomb Raider is more open than Uncharted but it uses a wealth of its elements to keep the story on target with the times. Uncharted learned from many games before it crafted the perfect style which inspired Tomb Raiders rebirth.

But Uncharted isnt a perfect style, I feel its a game that gets tons of praise for its story but neglect how shallow the gameplay is.

The Tomb Raider reboot was clearly inspired by gameplay mechanics of Uncharted. But focus on exploration is something Uncharted virtually lacks.

Again, I do acknowledge Uncharted has inspired games. It was also inspired by many games before it... like Tomb Raider.

Uncharted is designed to be a pulse pounding ride, but it doesn't fight the fact that its supposed to be linear. Tomb Raider tries to do the same thing but its flaw is that it tries to do that and give you exploration at the same time. This is what makes Uncharted ground breaking. Uncharted and Gears of War set the standard for how a linear/storybased action game should be in the new millenium. The next Uncharted might be more open, but I doubt Naughty Dog will let the openness affect the progression of story. Uncharted is like getting a ticket to indiana jones and playing the experience without any stops. Tomb Raider was better than the last by far but the story and character relationships still need a lot of work. I am most likely going to play that game a second time in march (with the baba yaga dlc, which im hearing isnt that great but what the heck) to get back in the groove with Uncharted.

No, Uncharted has plenty of slow moments where you just traverse through the levels, looking for the next ledge to jump, and fighting waves of enemies gets flat out boring. What I like about Tomb Raider is you keep moving whether you're exploring or going to the next objective. Also, I appreciate Tomb Raider doesn't use waves of enemy to pad out the length of the game.

Uncharteds only real slow moments are during conversations and stealth. We all know stealth was primarily in Uncharted 2 and it didnt last very long. Tomb Raider keeps you grinding to get weapons you most likely wont get to use during the first playthrough. In Uncharted all weapons can be claimed which are dropped. If your enemy drops a weapon you can just grab it. Its an action game and it allows you to just move forward with it. Waves are expected in linear adventure games, so I dont know why this is even a downside to Uncharted. Gears of War has plenty of them and no one complains. No one complained either when in the first Tomb Raider you were attacked by the same guy you got your first human kill on over and over again (or they used to shielded shot gun guys from uncharted). Also, the fact that you think Tomb Raider doesn't focus on waves for the main storyline is bull. Much like Uncharted, once you clear out an area they are gone. The difference is they mostly return when you come back since the game is open. Both games feature protagonists who face powerful enemies who are searching for artifacts. Uncharted does this much, much better...but again thats just me.

Yes, it does. Just not to the abundance of the first two Uncharted games (Drake's Deception was much more about exploration), but I don't mind in either case.

No, TR does not do it nearly at the same level. I agree Uncharted 3 had more exploration though.

I found waves of enemies in Uncharted to be a grind as well and that happen often.

I never felt TR grinded me to get new weapons. Many were aquired through the story and upgrades were often optional but useful.

Uncharted and Gears are more comprable, but Gears does gunplay better. Horde mode wouldnt be fun in Uncharted.

I feel TR has better combat as well because its more dynamic, more abilities, better stealth. TR is just better for different play styles.

My gf loves Tomb Raider (old and new). But she doesent care for Uncharted. I think its because one series is about exploration and the other is focused on face shooting.

If you are playing on normal, you should give up videogames.

A little harsh, no?

Perhaps give up on shooting games.

BTW congrats on your modliness.
