I'm not sure if you know this.... but the Wii U has sold terribly. I mean like remarkably bad. Whatever tactic Nintendo might have been trying very obviously didn't work. If everyone talks about Bayonetta 2, and relatively no one buys a Wii U or Bayonetta 2, then it really doesn't matter if everyone talked about it. If this is what Nintendo wants to do with the NX then it is royally, royally screwed.

Here's the crux of it, 1M in sales might look good, but it might not be actually be good. Like sure 1M in sales is great.... if the money you spent on the games means you make a decent little profit off of a million in sales. If a game like Super Mega Baseball does 1M in sales, that's amazing! That company made millions. If a game like Grand Theft Auto does 1M in sales, then that's horrific, Rockstar lost millions! It all relative.

Bayonetta and its fans would be best served if the game was multiplat.   I think its fair to say that this game deserves a wider audience and with over 50 million gamers playing on other consoles, I can see them wanting this to be run with the big dogs.  I have no problem with it being on the NX as well.

We live in a world where publishers are needed for AAA games.  Yes, I know that, but it should have been a 3rd party who published the game.  Nintendo just bought it.   Thats it.   Had they not bought it, then perhaps someone else would have published it and then more fans would hve gotten to enjoy.  This conversation is dumb though because unless Ninteno pays even more money, the next game will not be exclusive to the NX.  What rational reason would anyone have to do this?  They aren't going to ignore 80% of the gaming public for a handful of fanboys.   That being said, its still a good game and I hope that everyone including Nintendo games get to play Beyo 3.

Why did people "meltdown" over the Wii U exclusivity of Bayo 2?

Answer that question and you will have the answer to yours.

It'd take something like Fallout 5, Witcher 4, or Persona 6 to have a similar impact.

The 2nd game not being on any platform that isn't Nintendo kinda pushes them away from even feeling the "right" to being able to play the game on a specific platform of choice. As of right now, the entire series is available on one single platform - Wii U.

If you want to play Bayonetta? You buy a Nintendo platform. In 2016 that is pretty much all that needs to be said.

Then people shouldn't of failed the first game, to begin with. A lot of people right now are reacting towards bayonetta like Firefly. Everyone was blaming Fox, and countless other things. What happens when the movie was made. No one gave two shits. So Firefly is a dead property.
