By original definition, I'm right wing. I am, for the most part, against government intervention and would prefer more local governments handle their own business. That is, after all, part of the reason America fought for its independence.

However, I also believe that large corporations need to have checks on them. The problem with a capitalist mindset is it begets greed, which turns "I want to live lavishly" into "I want to live lavishly with excess". The idea that if you're not doing better than last year then you're falling has forced companies to FUCK their employees. And by forced, I mean didn't even suggest it.

But if the government can just keep an eye on corporate greed and the 1%, then I would be fine if they stepped out of other areas.

But I'm also a bit left winged in that I believe certain aspects of life should be socialist. Health care, education, and ALL emergency services should be as free and paid for as police departments. Fire Stations and EMS shouldn't be paid for by big brother. College and chemo should be paid for by big brother. Could there be premiums of those services? You betcha. But there needs to be a government option, too.

And as far as the police shootings are concerned? Put body cameras on all cops and let's watch what happens when a cop shoots a kid and we have evidence of the kid violently attacking said cop.

Because it's supposed to make sure nothing changes drastically, right?

Yes, because people don't like change.

It already started in elementary school that teachers said that "he who sleeps in a democratic state will wake up in a dictatorship". Back then I believed there is some merit to it, but it's obvious that's not going to happen. So there's no need for the average citizen to bother, hence why the percentage of non-voters increases with every election.

It won't become a dictatorship, but it will become a country where fewer and fewer people get more and more power. (it's pretty obvious that when the percentage of non-voters increase, each individual vote carries more weight.)

The real power is divided among few people to begin with; those who have money. There are countless lobbyists who influence the politicians in charge, but since there are so many lobbyists for so many different fields, the entire thing cannot go too far in any direction.

Maybe you guys haven't heard, we have a black president now. Everything is fine. ;)

Perhaps in America, but many countries are far better than this. Especially Canada. :D

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

I'm a moderate leftie.

I support marriage equality, unions, universal healthcare, separation of church and state, and environmentalism, but the far left makes me cringe as much as the far right does.

Right-wing on fiscal issues, left-wing on social issues. With exceptions of course...I'm not a big fan of the team mentality that plagues American politics.

I am far left. I think that everyone should be equal, that there should be no such thing as countries (yes I know that my profile picture kind of contradicts my beliefs) and that we should get rid of currency and instead live in a system where everyone contributes to society in exchange for something (ex. we agree that someone we teach, and in exchange we will give them electricity/food) and I am an against the one-day indirect democracy that we have, instead I prefer direct democracy that is constant.

Socialism and Marxists (Marx btw, was a moron with money, hence where all his stupid ideas came from) ideologies has lead to obscene numbers of people killed in the past 100 years. I really don't see how anybody can support any idea that a big government is a good idea, as government ends up corrupt, war-mongering and is immoral with its initiation of force on the populace (Taxes, making kids go to school, obscene laws like the drug laws etc.).

I'm pretty strongly right wing, people should be free to do what they want as long as what they do isn't violent against other people (the exception to this is Boxers/MMA fighters/Martial Artists etc, as they are willing to get into violent situations, either for entertainment, personal pride or whatever). The government should have no say in schools and hospitals, taxes should be minimal, and only enough to sustain a police force, fireservice and army sufficient enough to protect the country, NOT to go invading other countries. Government in it's essence should really be a regulatory body who decides, on advice from scientists, mininum standards for pollution/food quality/ etc, and set sensible laws, such as killing somebody should lead to jail, and whatnot. Other than that the government needs to fuck off out of our lives, surrender the control of money, and thus interest rates, which is where the majority of economic strife has come from for the past few decades and let people get on with life. If somebody wants to lose their minds on drugs just let them ffs.

Where is the no option?
