Zhuge said Halo 5 did 1.3m with digital first month in US ON Twitter few minutes ago.

so 30% digital launch digital sales. incredible

Bear in mind that all retail LE Halo 5 sales and Halo 5 bundles are counted as 'Digital', so apples/apples comparisons to your typical "20%" titles are impossible.

That said, if we get some good leaks on H5 bundle sales and LE edition sales from the NPD guys, we might be able to approximate things.

By my own estimates I think the actual DD number of people not getting the game from a store in an LE package or Halo 5 X1 bundle would be more like 25% or less.

Actually that halo 5 LE was included in the 930k NPD last month. SO that 300k is all raw sales.

Yep, I had forgotten how the leaks accumulated. The actual retail sales were worse for individual SKUs, but at least it gave us a picture on how the bundle did.

Preorders and digital are their strongest on launch (I guess due to people wanting to preload and be ready at the first possible moment?), so it will be interesting to see how the falloff will be for November retail sales. It has fallen massively in the UK from official sources. I have no idea if the same will hold true for the US market, but Abdiel (Best Buy source) seemed to indicate that it fell off a cliff pretty quickly, and the one-two-three combo of CoD, FO4, and SWBF can't have been easy to withstand.

Well the game went to like 180kin the US when cod launched os yeah a bad fall. If the 30% holds up true then id expect the game to be around 2.9m right now since vgchartz has it at 2.18m retail. Also these are good sales not halo type sales but still good for a AAA game.

Someone asked me how things went after the price drops came off post-Black Friday. Well, basically, the same thing as always. People cursing themselves for not pouncing on pricing, and then trying to haggle, but still buying stuff anyway, and accepting the deals as they were. Though, of course, it wasn't very long on the PS4 side before the price fell again, and we saw a rush of people coming in with receipts to price match. Nice of us, eh?

So. Star Wars fever is starting to really heat up. The discount including those Star Wars bundles... damn, man. I'm sure folks remember my Black Friday comments being somewhat quizzical on why they only dropped the NDC bundles, when it seemed like there was so many of the Star Wars ones ready to go, in store or in the back end... Well, they're in stores now. And they seem to be doing well. Very well.

Clarifying that: These are the regular ones, not the limited bundles. But damn we've got a lot of those fuckin' Star Wars bundles. Apparently they've also increased the advertising? People are mentioning lots of commercials (I don't watch TV, so I don't really know, but apparently it's all over the place).

XB1s were still selling okay, but were struggling to show the same kind of umph, though I'm sure this sudden price match will turn up the heat a good bit. I do have to wonder how much it will intensify things though, since it's just a price match and not a true marketing push like what customer's are mentioning. We're seeing Star Wars + Christmas madness, and it's getting more than a little chaotic.

What about you Cornbread, you out there?

(My store was not happy about my trip to the Playstation Experience, but hey, my one fuckin' vacation, they survived one weekend, hah, despite the normal blackout on vacation days. I just wasn't allowed to take the time as paid days off. Cheap bastards.)

The PS5 Exists.

PS4 by 300k. Sticking with it. I don't buy PS4 only won by 20k CoD and BF launch week. I also don't buy XB1 winning BF week. For one if they had you know MS would have said so. 2 we had that info scout showing a 1% win for PS4. Last year there report was skewed 10% better for XB1 than actual results. Assuming there sample audience has remained similar that would mean PS4 had closer to a 10% win.

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

If PS4 wins NPD narrowly it will only be crow-flavoured hors-d'oeuvres being served rather than a full 5 course crow banquet.

What are the implications of a Xb one win? November was a month that should have been PS4's 2 big name special edition bundles and the first time PS4 put in an appearance at $299. What did Xb one have? Perhaps some Halo 5 carry over, but with a somewhat disappointing start and low historical sales for a numbered Halo game this would not be a significant factor for November. The Gears $299 bundle, with gift card at some retailers, was the huge driver for black friday. It's hard to credit Fallout 4 with much of a hardware advantage over PS4 when PS4 ended up selling more of FO4 than Xb one. I suspect VGC giving Xb one a near 30K advantage that week was a bit high, but not significant enough to put PS4 into a winning position for the month.

That Tomb Raider effect. Fractured the fanbase and shunned by the Xbox community.
