there's a reason that this is $99.
Okay for browsing the internet but that's it.

This thing should cost $50 imo at MOST.

nah. Case is probably around $20 already. And even if 80GB is not a lot, they aren't making them anymore or at least not many of them. It'll cost probably about the same to make/buy as a 500GB HDD.

It just has no use when an $80 windows tablet is stronger and infinately more useful.  That is what his is competing with in 2015, not just the worth of its raw components.

but if it's possible to sell the parts (or the whole PC and the input devices that come with it) for $50 or more, how can it not be worth $50?

Yes, that's a good computer for computoring. It has a quality build, and that's all that matters. Now get on GOG.com and buy some classics, yo!

Next you should get an IPS monitor, a nice set of speakers, a nice clicky keyboard and a trackball.

You are going to have to see if you can put more RAM into it. Shouldn't be too much of an issue. Also there is no mention of a GPU that I noticed, but since it looks to be fairly small form factor you might not be able to put one in, plus I doubt the PSU can support a whole lot.
The CPU is actually a pretty decent CPU even to today's standards. The new chips have a lot more features, but these older ones actually still perform quite well.
As far as gaming goes, you likely aren't going to be able to do a whole lot since it's likely just using intel graphics.
Good buy as far a price though.

Its a C2D, without hyperthreading.

Its a dual core, like the Pentium g3258.

But the "instructions pr clock" performance of a C2D is like half of what a haswell is... or something crazy like that.

Basically a C2D @3ghz is like a haswell at 1.5ghz.

A G3258 that you overclocked to 4.5ghz will make a 3ghz C2D look really dated.

Thats 69$ alone for the cpu though.

Hyperthreading for gaming is like a 20 inch dick, it's only good for showing off.

OT : Don't expect AAA from the last 5 years but you can enjoy older games and some indies. Pro tip : any japanese indie game (doujin) will run on this machine.

But these games are much more personal on a $80 windows tablet. ;)

Install xp on it and play old dos games / stuff like quake, counterstrike, doom, hexen, ultima, diablo, fallout 1/2/tactics.
Sure its specs arent amazing but it'll still play thousands of classics.

Aint no shame in lower specs. If people give you hubris just ignore it

Besides, have a look around, it might accept a low profile gpu in the chassis, you wont be winning any benchmarks but a decent low profile gpu will cost very little but do a lot to expand capability.

Slap one of these in, youve got the port/space, i checked.

Will make a huge difference to how recent of a game you can run.
