Forums - Nintendo - Xenoblade Chronicles is a Masterpiece!

The combat is inspired by FF XII...

It's not Xenoblade's fault that most people are idiots that only buy something from well known brands.

Pokémon has the most boring combat system ever. Dragon Quest is way too basic as well and most people in the West don't care for it.

@Bold Not exactly the most successful entry ...

Most people are "idiots" only because they want to buy something that will make them happy ...

Pokemon maybe too simple for some of the older gamer's tastes but Dragon Quest is too basic ? Well shit then the same probably applies to Final Fantasy and Persona as well ...

If most people in the West don't care for DQ then what does that say about the Xenoblade series which is arguably just as unpopular in the West ?

Aside from the side quest and the cliche story moments (how the freaking hell were they going to "forgive" Egil after all he did!?!?!) it's a really good game.

I used to think it was a masterpiece as well, but after playing it again, I don't consider it a masterpiece anymore, it's just a very good game.

Nintendo and PC gamer

It was the game that officially made me a fan of the JRPG genre.
I've played and beaten the game twice now, once on the Wii, once on the New 3DS.
First time I played it, I loved the hell out of it.
Second time, I still greatly enjoyed though I was able to recognize some more flaws than the first time.
But I still consider it a fantastic game. One of my all-time favorites.

Because anime tropes are roundly terrible.

Xenoblade had a limited release at the end of a console's lifetime with limited marketing.

And the combat in Xenoblade greatly improves upon FF XII.

Persona doesn't exactly sell well either, lol.

Dragon Quest is the most basic of JRPGs there is.

glad that this game is still pushing new players to play the game. i've finished the game few months back, clocked ~200 hours, single playthrough to complete most side quests, complete the game, beat the 5 super bosses. :)
really a fantastic feeling. one of the best RPGs i've played. never been hooked up like this before.

my favorite soundtracks - gaur plains, one who gets in our way, you will know our names. XD

it is a big shoe for XCX to atleast be on par with XC i've lower my expectations and it is using mechs so it is on a different path for me. different experience different expectations. :)

this is how it should look and be played:

Yep I played my first two playthroughs on Wii. My third playthrough (which I have spent more than the first two combined) is on Dolphin. Great visuals without the artifacts, and with a minor texture upgrade.

would dolphin work on Windows 10? and can I use the cd-rom to play it via the game disc?  wanted to check the godly graphics of a PC version for this game. :)

Yes I use Dolphin on Windows 10, just make sure you have a newer revision, and yes it should play off the disc (although load times can be much quicker with a copy on your HDD/SSD. You can always install the homebrew channel on your Wii and rip the rom to a flash drive/hard drive using one of the plethora of homebrew software to do that.) Also I don't know how well the HD texture packs will work with the main game loading on a disc as they make load times slower on my SSD (I will try it when I get time if you want.) Make sure you have a CPU capable of this game: 3.5 Ghz or higher Haswell/Broadwell/Skylake, or a higher clockspeed for older Intel's, is what I would say is required to run it at full speed.

I have just finished the game and I agree that its the best rpg of last generation. 110h and level 88 and I still couldnt finished all of it. What I liked the most is the music and also how different all the areas in the game are, like eryth sea, valak mountain, bionis leg, frontier village, colony 9... the world is so big but also so different that I was never bored going from one place to another doing sub quests.
Thats my biggest fear with XCX. The world is 4 or 5 times bigger than the one in XC but it seems to me that the areas are not as rich and different as they were in the first game.
You look at XCX and it seems to be just 5 areas 5 times bigger instead in XC you have like 30 different areas or more.
That alone and the music which from I have listened is awful make me think I wont like XCX as much as this one.
I wouldnt mind replaying the game on dolphin. The game deserves good visuals.

I preferred Xenogears and Xenosaga. Xenoblade was not as detailed as those games.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
