Forums - Nintendo - Do you think the Wii U will get any meaningful releases in 2017?

They said NX wont replace Wii U and 3DS so im gonna say yes.

That's what they say each and every time! For example, they said the GBA wouldn't be replaced by the DS and we all know that wasn't the case..

There aren't any meaningful releases that haven't come out yet. (Sshhh. Zelda doesn't exist.)

I'm now filled with determination.

No everything will be pushed on nx

When the NX launches, Nintendo will be abandoning the Wii U faster than light.

People expecting some kind of support, being new games or NX ports are going to be disapointed imo.

Assuming a 2016 holiday release for the NX?

There's no chance of a HUGE release, but I feel that there could easily be at least one game of note. Especially for a game that started development before the NX's release date was planned, or in a series that does well on older platforms. Here are a few possibilities:

  • Kirby's Return to Dream Land 2 - It will be a three year period between Triple Deluxe and 2017, enough to make a new Kirby platformer. HAL has also released Kirby games fairly late in a platform's life pretty regularly: Mass Attack came out for the DS after the 3DS and Return to Dream Land came out latter in the Wii's life. A push for NX development might not occur because HAL would have to go over a big HD resource gap, and Kirby is not much of a system seller anyways.
  • Mario Golf U - If Camelot has the HD assets for Tennis, they might be able to get a Golf game out. THis would be more likely for 2016,
  • Mario Party 11 - More likely to be for the NX, but the next Mario Party is probably coming out in 2017 for some platform or another.
  • Pokken Tournament - If the game uses hardware comparable to the Wii U, I can imagine a 2016 release for Japan and a 2017 localization to the West.
  • Rhythm Heaven U - The GBA and Wii iterations were fairly late, and this might be a decent budget release.

The only thing i'm sure is 2015 was Wii U last year in term of big exclusives, Zelda will likely be a NX/WiiU game and that's all

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Probably The Legend Of Zelda U...

I'm more interested in meaningful games for 2016.
Because besides Zelda, we have nothing.
And yeah I know about FE X SMT or whatever it is called right now, I Just hope the 10 000 people who buys it Will like it.

Nintendo calls Amiibo Crossing and Federation Force "support" and consider it meaningful releases. This is what you can expect.
