Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has passed away

Terrible news for all of us, he was one of the industry greats and the one person at Nintendo I always respected in spite of setbacks. He was kindly and charismatic and had a unique style for a company head and he had coding and game development in his blood; too many people in managing positions have little understanding of or passion for the roots of their division(s).

Rest in peace Iwata, we'll remember you and cherish what you left behind.

Terrible news for everyone involved in this industry. So sad and tragic.

He's left such an incredible body of work and had such an amazing influence over the years, I suppose the only thing to say is thanks for the memories.

RIP Iwata, so sad news I still can't believe it :(

Of all the famous people I've known which have died... I think Iwatas death has brought me the saddest I've ever felt for any of them... was getting strange looks today at work when I read the news and shed some tears for him.

RIP and thanks for everything Iwata-San

Just reading about what Iwata had. It has a 5% survival rate. So he basically knew he was dying. He kept working until the very end. RIP Iwata san.

The "See you next time" part made me so sad...

Signature goes here!

I just got off of work and saw this, I really thought Satoru Iwata would be with Nintendo for plenty of generations to come. Its the end of an era, without Iwata's vision for Nintendo I can't help but feel a bit uneasy about the direction of the company now. Will this be one of those what if moments of history that become a deciding factor in the fate of Nintendo?
