Could be $50, wouldn't matter. Know why? No one knows it exists. Doesn't matter how cheap something is if no one is aware of it's existance. Apathy and/or ignorance of it's existance has been the real downfall of the Wii U.

No, they should of had it at $250 with Smash last year and $200 bundles this holiday season.
Naw. They should remove the controller and sell it for $150 - that is what it always should have been.

I don't think anything at this point will make the Wii-U competitive. Splatoon helped, but only in the sense that Wii-U's sales went up some, while still getting decimated. Wii-U has been the cheapest 8th ten console since Day 1 with the PS4 and XB1, but it was still quickly surpassed by both, even with media generated stigma that it had, and still has, the greatest exclusives of the 3.

A Wii U for $100 less, supported by Yoshi's Wooly World and Super Mario Maker will not compete with an Xbox One that will see some pretty crazy value bundles and holiday price slices from specific retailers, while its supported by Halo 5, Forza 6, Fallout, Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed, Need for Speed, Black Ops 3 and Battlefront.
Seriously, the bundles and part time pricecuts that will be on offer with the One this Holiday will blow Wii U out of the water. With or without a $100 cut.
No chance against Xbox even with a 100 dollar price drop imo!
It would help a bit, but only with people who were on the fence with regards to picking one up as a second console and with parents who know next to nothing about the console market and just want to buy the cheapest device possible.
Otherwise, there is no consumer confidence in the Wii U and that's only going to erode further as rumors of a replacement platform spread.
The truth of the matter, and this is something Nintendo is going to have to address, is that their biggest games are just new versions of older games. The general public looks at Smash Bros. or Mario Kart and thinks, "we already have that on the Wii," and looks at something else. Splatoon is the only thing that really sets the Wii U apart.
