...even if "a lot" equals to 25%, or even 15%, the statement is still not true.

It's a matter of opinion. I ask for people to clarify their opinions regularly. Just wish more people in this thread would have done the same.

But it is an opinion that can be debated upon, even if it is vague. Wouldn't you agree with that? I mean, yeah, some people jumped at Miyamoto's throat even before entering the thread, but all statements are subject of debate.

Miyamoto has a warped preception of what the gameing market looks like right now..... he needs to buy a xbox one and a PS4 and try some of their games, get his fingers on the pulse of the market again, because it sounds like hes lost his touch, on where gameing is at.

Those are pointless because when there's ambiguity like this, people start filling in the holes themselves as opposed to allowing Miyamoto to do it.

well the article was not found, but i can say i mostly agree with miyamoto, he created metroid, zelda , mario and much more wich are all different, and all have different art style. So he has variety. realistic looking games are ofc not bad, most of them are really good games, but it can get stale

Actually most of Nintendo games look the same. The only thing that separates them are the characters and world concepts.Zelda resembles Mario and than you have DK and Kirby. Only Unreal Engine games look a like, but Batman stands out easily. The Witcher looks nothing like Mad max,Shadow of Mordor or Batman. All by the same publisher as an example.

Thats very inaccurate, i would be a here for hours if i had to explain all the reasons thats not true

Cartoony games look different to cartoony games.
Realistic games look different to realistic games.

It's like he thinks people looking like people is some huge negative to a game revolving around people. Considering they've gotten a lot of backlash for being experimental with art styles (see: every 3D Zelda after the N64), I almost see it as ironic that he even might be criticizing more realistic art styles for being too much of the same.

I don't agree. I have realism if I go out on the streets. I use entertainment to experience something different. And I really liked Borderlands, Monster Hunter and Rayman Legends a lot more than Tomb Raider, GTA V and Splinter Cell: Blacklist to name some games I played the past year or so.

Way to go, everyone. We made a dirt mount pile up into a hill. Let's dissect more of what he said and turn it into a mountain. That way we may look down at the father of modern gaming and shame him for an opinion that is valid and deserving to be stated. A+

Why are people bringing up certain specific games when Miyamoto didn't? All he said in the link provided was “A lot of games nowadays look so realistic that they all look the same”? I see people then bringing up SPECIFIC games as though Miyamoto were referring to those. He was not so why are users doing it here?

It makes me want to pull my hair out how users are extrapolating what Miyamoto said.

I agree with you, he wasn't specific... he generalized by all games looking the same.

I only bolded and underlined something in the posts... for whatever reason.

And do we know Miyamoto's opinion on these given examples? Did he even allude to any of them? He didn't but people are piling on what he said and then wailing on the man for one sentence.

No; we know Miyamoto's generalization over all realistic games nowadays. Which equals to take every single game that aims for realism and throw it into the same place.

There are cartoony games with great graphics. Broken Age, Ni No Kuni, Rayman Origins/Legends, R&C, Mario Galaxy, etc.

And there are cartoony games with horrendous, shitty graphics like Star Fox.

The same can be said about games trying to achieve realistic graphics.

And what games would Miyamoto put under the category of aiming for realism?

All those games that are not somewhat cartoony; hence the reason of Miyamoto for making Star Fox that way.

Well, I wouldn't put Starfox under very cartoony, so that alone brings up the question how cartoony and realistic is defined.
