I think a better conparison will be Persona vs Final Fantasy. Both RPG series perceived as PlayStation games. Zelda vs FF is a bit complicated.

I'm voting FF, purely because I like more games in that franchise. (FF 1, 3-8, 10, 10-2, Tactics vs Zelda 1, 2, LttP, OoT, MM, Link's Awakening).

Legend of Zelda maintains a qulity FF hasn't had in a long time. LoZ wins, and it's not even close.

Zelda will still have the same 3 main characters - Link, Zelda and Ganondorf. The game will still be sword based where you lock on target. You'll be riding your horse around the world. You'll know how it'll be.

Not every Zelda game had Ganondorf. Not every Zelda game has Zelda. Not every Zelda game has a horse. Not every Zelda game has lock-on.

I'm gonna say Zelda. It's been better with being consistent and retaining its quality with each generation of gaming. I can't say the same about Final Fantasy.

Zelda is the gold standard for all of gaming, IMO.

Some of the newer ones don't even take place in hyrule.

The games are still more of less the same. And let's not talk about the combat. Not sure how Nintendo gets away with combat that was good in 1998.
