I haven't really liked Zelda since LttP. Nintendo never really seemed to get 3D gameplay right and I think it shows with how they used it in Zelda.

Final Fantasy on the other hand is a much bigger series (not talking about sales) and I've liked nearly all of the games since I first played the first Final Fantasy. I even liked the much hated FFXIII, though I could not get far into FFXIII-3 because I detest time limited RPGs.

3d gameplay right?
as if play by turns was more enterntaining and is not like final fantasy has been having good reception lately, but nintendo has known how to preserve zeldas fame over the years

As for gameplay goes, i prefer a tales game rather than final fantasy

I don't think I should vote seeing as I've never played a FF game...but I'm interested in the poll results, how are they going so far?

Tales > Final Fantasy everytime imo

Tales of Symphonia iis the best JRPG ever made imo. Tales of the Abyss is pretty good as well.

Yes, I think every 3D Zelda has been pretty poor gameplay wise.  The settings, stories, etc have been pretty on par with the older non 3D Zeldas, but I have been fully uncompelled by the gameplay, they certainly do improve little by little but pale in comparison to the era they are in when they get released.  And before you ask yes I own and have played every Zelda I could get my hands on.

Some people prefer turn based battles, some prefer active battles.  Personally I enjoy both types.  Tales usually has fantastic active battle gameplay, but I don't think I would rank those games as a whole as always better than their Final Fantasy counter parts.  Further no Tales game can really compare with the customization of character growth than FF.
