Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Yup, not buying a Nintendo system again

Believe it or not i'm actually a big fan of nintendo games and I almost break down like once a week and buy a Wii u but I haven't because I know it really isn't worth it, with the high prices and game droughts and I refuse to support a company with such shitty policies and practices. Love the games, hate the company and most likely will never buy another nintendo console again (owned all except NES and Wii U including handhelds) unless there is some serious change

I'll buy NX. No question in faith here lol

Don't forget that Sega crippled themselves by launching the Sega CD and 32X add-ons before the Saturn, so Sega's 32-bit console was already the third piece of disappointing hardware in a row. The final nail in the coffin was that the Dreamcast sucked. Sonic Adventure sucked too.

As for the rest of the topic, you know that there are times when you are just...

So what are you going to do in the future? Become a PC gamer? An Xbot?

Oh I didn't forget those, it was all part of the same downward spiral. Bottom line, cutting a console's life short never engenders faith in its followup.

As to the future, I actually think I might try to find a less aggravating hobby. Still gonna live up the Wii U's remaining life though. You're not rid of me just yet. :)

Looking at the replies here, I'm seeing a quite a few fellow Nintendonians have similarly had their loyalty shaken, including some I never expected to waver.

I wonder if Nintendo realizes just how badly this show has damaged them. It's safe to assume this isn't the only site where Nintendo fans are seriously questioning their faith

people dont think straight they're emotional and emotions lie.

I kind of thought this was going to be a an anti Nintendo thread from a non Nintendo user, but when I saw you as the OP and read your post I definitely felt your annoyance and disappointment.

For me, however, this event and their mention of NX means that they are focusing on NX for bigger projects. This has also taught me to not buy another Nintendo console at launch. In the end, I will buy NX, but not day one. I'll wait until I want at least 10 games to get the system and then pull the trigger.

This all changes if they somehow manage to incorporate handhelds into the console.

Neogaf has alot of nintendo fans with pitchforks & torches out.

Well... I definitely am not going to buy another one of their systems at launch. I'm still pretty fond of nintendos handhelds and the 3ds has been pretty good (even though I kind of wish they had skipped the whole 3d part). The wii u though... Has been disappointing. I enjoy the virtual console stuff... But there haven't been too many games that I have found appealing and their online strategy is simply not acceptable in this day and age... That said, xcx is my most anticipated game right now and I would probably buy a wii u just for it... It just took the wii u 4 years to release game that actually gets me really excited...

The blessing in disguise is we know they are loading up for NX, the Zelda "delay" confirms this.

My gripe is with the piss poor efforts of the games we know are coming. I nearly cried when they showed star fox zero lol I remember as a kid, first being in awe of N64 Star fox demo in blockbuster stores, and now it has come to this doggy doodoo? it looks like a gc game ffs.

It's taken a lot to overcome my deeply rooted attachment to them, but the last four years have gradually eroded my tolerance for their bullshit.

I've been on the brink for the past few months, and now I can say with certainty that while I'll ride out the Wii U and squeeze as much out of it as I can, I will not be buying NX, or any future platform of theirs.

Sorry Iwata, your princess is in another castle.

I had to sell my Wii U as I was moving abroad and I was thinking of getting a PS4 instead. Then I heard about Xbox backward compatibility, googled it and it's a crock of shit once you read deeper than the headline. None of the consoles are really doing it for me so it's either, maybe, a PS4 or upgrade the PC. I want my witcher style games from time to time and my strategy games. I do love playing Mario kart and the likes with my daughter but for the cost of the console, I'm not sure anymore. Might be best to just buy her a 3DS and play board games with her.

My faith remained unchanged, I was disappointed, but at the same time I very much enjoyed Wii U and REALLY enjoyed the 3DS.
