And just to say, i find that quite funny people complain about this when it's Sony but no one complained about Kingdom's Come while it's the exact same situation, they needed some amount of money to convince their investor

So you are saying this happened before?

Thank you. Now I am justified to play the pirated version(If they can actually release the damn game lol). Maybe I should install for my friends so they don't have to spend a penny.

Good news, though not surprising.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Sony Are Helping Create Shenmue III

People need to understand, Shenmue never appeared on PlayStation. The first and second game was on Dreamcast, and the second was on the original Xbox. Sony had enough faith to promote the Kickstarter, and now they see there is in fact a demand for it, so now they're in it all the way.

Wasn't the whole point of kickstarter to find funding for games or projects? Isn't shenmue being made because it was funded through kickstarter? Ok then.

When you create a Kickstarter campaign, you are required to disclose all details of your business proposition. Withholding the fact that Sony was secretly publishing the game is unethical.

Unethical? The End justifies the means. Its shemue 3

Shenmue has a positive depiction of china why you dont want support this in retail over kickstarter argument? kickstarter is banned in china anyways

If Kickstarter find a project to have been unethically funded, is there a risk that it gets taken of the page? Hopefully that happens and Sony are forced to pay for their own games, instead of using these crappy tactics.

Or they dont pay at all.

While I agree that Kickstarter shouldn't be used like this, the bolded is not very logical. The people who funded Shenmue funded it because it's Shenmue. It's not like this money would have gone towards funding a different game if Shenmue didn't exist.

More then 30% are repeating backers at kickstarter so yeah at least a large amount of money could have went to another project.. I'm worried about kickstarter.. More and more are calling it an abuse when multi billion dollar corporations are using it like this.. This is harmfull for smaller projects

Nope its not. Shenmue 3 is my second kickstarter i backed, the other is bloodstained. I never used kickstarter before because i dont like indie games, because i dont know the people behind them. This is how the majority of people feel who backed mighty no9, yakee yollee, bloodstained and now shenmue.

Its not taking away from indie devolopers because those wouldnt have goten any money anways from me.

What would your views be if EA used Kickstarter for Fifa every year or Nintendo for the next Mario?

That would be completely different...

Sony doesn't own Shenmue. If they did own the game they would have funded it themselves for sure. If this had been done for one of their own games then trust me the reactions would be way worse.

No, the reactions would be the same, as fans we are sadly waaaay to adjustable to every new situation Sony/MS/Nintendo creates. In this case the excuse is "but the game will be made so what's the problem" yet we forget to think about how this very situation will affect the industry. This can become as harmful as paid DLCs are, which is another case where we as consumers could have said stop at an earlier stage.

Lol, is anyone really surprised about this? I mean Sony showing the game at their conference out of the good of their hearts wasn't happening.
